Explanation of Organisation concept within Glide

Hi,

Is there a complete explanation on the use of Organisation within Glide?

I can find a number of scattered posts but nothing that gives a clear description of :

• use case
• limitations
• security
• cost
• etc

Apologies if already covered in the documentation, please post a link.

This is very much needed . I’ve found that you can’t designate apps as public (no sign-in) once you transfer them to an org. Also I saw that the icon is a “folder”, yet Glide experts say that this platform doesn’t use “folders”. So Organizations are pretty confusing and limiting.

I’m not sure if this is in affect now or on October 1st, but Organizations are changing to simply become folders that allow separate billing and multiple collaborators. Wait a couple of days until October 1st and see if you still have questions.

Organizations are now simpler and free to use

Previously, Glide Organizations offered unlimited private apps for $8/user. Organizations also had some confusing limitations—you could not create any free apps within an org, or pay annually. Many customers told us that they did not understand orgs.

Today we’re completely reinventing Orgs: they are now just folders for your apps, to which you can add unlimited collaborators for free. If you want to collaborate on apps—even Personal apps—just create an Organization and invite people to it.

This new unified pricing & billing system will also help us simplify moving apps to/from/between orgs.

What happens to existing Org apps?

We are retiring our special Organization pricing (unlimited apps) for now, and standardizing pricing between My Apps and Orgs.

Existing Organizations customers can publish new apps with our original Organization pricing until October 1, at which point new apps will use the new pricing.

Org apps on the old prices can keep those prices until September 1, 2021. After that point, you will need to choose a new plan to make changes to your app.

You can upgrade to the new plans at any time, which now include annual payment options and a lower-priced Basic tier. We also have new, lower per-user prices, under $1 per user per month when paid annually.

Features for organizations

Yes, Orgs are now free. New Orgs can publish Personal apps, your org will get these features October 1.

HI Jeff, I had an expert do some work on my app. I created a Org folder to share it. Now I want to move it back out of the Org folder into My Apps so that I can reapply my Pro Subscription to it and continue working on it. However, I see no option to move the app out. Can you help me?

Features for organizations

You cannot yet move apps out of Orgs, and there is not concept of ‘transferring’ a subscription between accounts (between My Apps and Orgs, or between Orgs). You can only upgrade the app in the org (and downgrade the other app if you’d like).
