Custom Domain Followup

Hi all, might be silly questions but with the recent problem over glide domains, I’m setting up all my clients with custom domains now. My questions are, does Glide automatically issue an SSL Certificate? In the web world, you normally have control over that but I’m just going in blind on this one. Also, now it’s my domain, is google indexing my pages, or is everything automatically set to No-Index? I’m probably worrying over nothing but it’s been a stressful week for my clients and staff. I know Glide considered it closed but the ramifications still go on having to change a lot of my paying clients who are not thrilled about the disruption to their service. Soz, just a bit frazzled :winking_face_with_tongue:

Nope glide doesn’t automatically create a SSL custom domain, only if you have your own sub it will follow Let’s Encrypt on your own existing domain.

@Laurence_Schuberth Yes, Glide issue a TLS Certificate for the custom domain you use.

The No-index is also automatically settled by Glide.

Hahaha @FrancoisDigico @MaximeBaker :joy: Thank you both, I’m a bit more confused now so… I have my new domain eg xyz.app and I’m putting all my clients as subdomains eg client1.xyz.app client2.xyz.app client3.xyz.app So far HTTPS seems to happen but I have no control hence the question and No follow is great. Can either of you see any problems with the way I’m doing this, Thanks 2U both

Na Laurence, it’s no bad intention. It’s about your custom domain settings. It takes some skills to master DNS. Nothing about Glide.

Hi @FrancoisDigico yeah Totally understand, What I meant was you and @MaximeBaker seemed to give contradictory answers at exactly the same time re the TLS so I was confused about what the answer actually is. Sorry if I offended with my answer, I certainly didn’t mean to

I believe the answer that @MaximeBaker gave is correct. Whilst I don’t know it for a fact, I have configured dozens of Glide custom domains with several different providers, and I’ve never had to purchase an SSL certificate. So I can only assume that Glide takes care of this for us.

Thanks @Darren_Murphy @FrancoisDigico and @MaximeBaker I really appreciate the help, sorry If I got a bit confused, I’m a bit frazzled, Although the technical fix is a simple reinstall, it puts pressure on my clients who have lots of staff using our product who are non-technical, They now have to go make sure all staff members update with a reinstall (Groan, Whine, Complain) to make sure everyone is using it correctly, it becomes a bit of a project that they now have to manage and some get a bit difficult with me because I’m adding to their already busy workload. I can’t afford any more re-installs so I really appreciate your help
