User-Specific date field requiring time on entry

I have a user-specific field that is requiring entry of the time on a custom form, and shows the time during data entry, even though it’s defined as SHORT and DATE ONLY. I even tried to set the default date to a template field that has only 2/11/2022 in it, and it appends the noontime.

Change it to a date component instead of a date/time component.
