☑️ User agreement checkbox on sign in screen

You can now add a user agreement checkbox for users to tick before signing in to your app. Here you can also add links to any external pages where you might have terms, conditions, privacy policy, etc.

@JackVaughan question: if we enable this, would users who have signed up before need to sign in again and tick the boxes? That would actually be a good thing in my case.

Amazing.
Can the app admin see a log/records of the users who clicked agree? (like we have for the app logins or something)

No, they wouldn’t. The checkbox simply enables the normal login process we have currently. So long as Glide recognizes the user’s device, they won’t be asked to sign in again. If they are on a new device, they will have to tick the check box again.

Why do you want to do this out of interest?

@JackVaughan, I know that this is a pain in the arse. However, as others have mentioned, we should log all consents provided.

Although the app doesn’t let you sign-in if you don’t check the box, keeping a log of data collection activities is a requirement (art. 30 of GDPR).

In theory, the fact that you can’t register without logging in demonstrates that a registered user had to agree to proceed.

The problem though, we can’t prove it because we don’t have an activity log with a consent timestamp (e.g. Email ID has provided consent on dd/mm/yyyy)

I was hoping that it would work like a component checkbox, where we can keep track of consent.

Do you think we can work on this?

We know. We are working on a number of areas that relate to GDPR but were chatting to some of you guys on this thread and decided to get a minimum viable solution out as soon as possible.

Perhaps @Mark may have more to say here.

Hi ya. I have thought about this. I doubt my users will sign out and sign in again. What I am going to do is hide all the tabs and content and show a text field and a tick box and once they have read the message and ticked the box then make everything visible.

We’ll add logging of the checkbox in the logins sheet.

Maybe asking too much but, would there be a possibility of hosting the Terms and conditions and privacy policy on glide?
It would mean I could drop the cost of my website.

Yup. It’s true what they said. You guys are AWESOME !!!

If you want to do this, you could try duplicating your app, then changing the link of your new app to what you had on your previous app (For that you will have to first change the link on the previous app to free that link)

When you do this, automatically all users will have to sign in again on the new app but because the link is the same, they need not add it onto their home screen again.
Word of caution: There is sometimes a time lag when you do this!
Cheers.
