Tablet mode is live!

This was changed after I posted this comment. Seems a restriction like this means Glide Devs do not want folks accessing the desktop mode directly. I can’t imagine why except that they are working through something currently.

I mean, sending someone to your desktop app through a splash page that has a picture of a phone on it is… weird to say the least… but okay.

This does not seem to be affecting the ability to install the tablet version as a home screen icon on your Tablet though. You can do this from that same initial page with the phone from mobile safari. Without even logging in or switching to desktop mode. So my guess is perhaps they are working on a similar tablet (and perhaps desktop) intro to this version that provides install instructions the way they do on mobile.

I agree, weird, mainly on computer. It appear non responsive for end-users, and they’re right. The display capabilities should be detected at launch time, and if they exceed a smartphone cability the full screen mode should be activated.

Now (strictly right now, perhaps it’s a test) you can link to */full, and it will open in Desktop view when in Desktop, and in Mobile mode when in Mobile. Looks perfect for my current needs.

Perhaps the feature is Pro only because it’s an early preview. This could be a Pro feature in itself: access to early previews (features that later may, or may not, be Pro).

@Mark Slideshow version on desktop hardly works. Would it be possible to make it clickable instead of swipeable?

Since the tablet mode is live, I have a problem with scrolling down my app page.
At some point, the page wont move down when i scroll it down (there is still content below the page)

Does anyone have the same issue here?

@Ito Which browser are you using?

Even worst, using Chromium, you have no scroll bar at all.
Hopefully, my laptop is a Surface Pro X, so I can scroll with my finger, but for those who would use Chromium on a non tablet pc, if they can’t scroll, they can’t use the app so they will not visit twice the app.

Good point ! Can anyone test if a scroll bar is available ? It’s maybe due to CHromium + surface ?

I also notice another bug. I f I set a button attached to the action “open web view” + a link, in desktop view when I click the button, the link is opened in a new tab of Chrome, instead to open within the app itself. So no difference between the webview and the “open link” action. It would be better, when using web view, to keep users within the same page.

I’m using chrome and a touch enabled laptop and I don’t see a scrollbar either, but it still feels natural to me because I can use the scroll wheel on my mouse, 2 finger scroll on the touchpad, or scroll by touching the screen.

Thanks for the test and confirmation @Jeff_Hager,
But that means for those having a computer (not a laptop) and no wheel won’t be able to use the app.
The scroll bar should be made available in the desktop mode… What do you think about this point @Mark

Has anybody seen this issue of not being able to scroll, or is this just a hypothesis?

I’ve never been unable to scroll, but I suppose as @Christophe_HK pointed out, you would have to be in a situation where you only have a mouse that doesn’t have a scroll wheel. Although, the page and arrow keys on the keyboard are still functional. It’s just that there isn’t a visible scrollbar. It’s personally not a problem for me, but a good observation.

Yes, and @Mark, one of the shop owner of a shop registered in the app warned me about this issue. He’s not able to update his shop profile using his smartphone and in his shop he only has a old standard computer. So he didn’t know how to fill the edit and modify his information, I had to modify for him.

Good point also @Jeff_Hagerfor the arrow keys… I didn’t think at these keys when I hot in touch with him. Arf!

Got it! I think it’s a browser issue. It would happen every time when somene use Firefox.

@Ito. There seems to be a few complaints with Firefox users lately. There must have been a recent browser update that caused a problem.

This is my biggest complaint. Instead of stretching the buttons and data. Allow us to set data alongside more data or 2 - 3 buttons on same line. Better utilize the additional space.

It happens when I use Firefox as my browser. (It’s not my default choice).

You can’t scroll on Firefox? You don’t have a trackpad or a mouse with a scroll wheel?
