Description

I’m on a business plan so have 100,000 rows.

Also my spreadsheet has a total of 18,000 row approx, not 25,000+

My client provides this app to their clients. Their client saw this message and complained. They currently have a complaint about the data in this app lodged with the federal government complaints body.

How to replicate

  • List the steps, in detail, for recreating the issue.
  • Try to submit an expense which creates a row in an Excel spreadsheet-based table

What types of tables are used in the app and how many rows are in each table?

100k rows is for high scale data sources only. eg. Big Tables. Regular tables are still capped at 25k rows per App.

I’m at 18,000 for Excel per app

Excel and Glide tables

Excel is 18,000 rows

Glide tables aren’t capped. Don’t use big tables right now.

Glide tables still count towards the row count. If you have 18k excel rows, how many glide table rows do you have?

Sure, but I’m under 100k rows for this app:

Excel = 18,000 + Glide tables = 7,500

As mentioned above, 100k is for high scale data sources. You said you are not using any high scale data sources, so you are still limited to 25k rows which includes the content of all Glide and Excel tables combined. If you used Glide Big Tables, it would be a different story and you could reach into that 100k limit.

High scale data sources are not synced to the device in their entirety, unlike traditional data sources, so the device does not bog down with large amounts of data and can handle millions of rows more dynamically.

Based on your numbers for both Excel and Glide Table sources, you are in fact over the 25k limit for those types of data sources.

Where is this information from?

Here?

The url is in my screenshot. It’s from the pricing page.

Thanks. I see it.

I need to explain this to our client given their client is complaining to the government.

Appreciate the help.

On reflection spreadsheet might not be the clearest language to use there. Sure there is a pop up but I assumed I knew what a spreadsheet was based on how this word is used elsewhere on the marketing site, eg, the hero section of the home page. And because glide tables aren’t spreadsheets are they?

I know you don’t personally control the website copy  but as a 6 year Glide vet this wasn’t obvious to me, including in the official Glide docs.

Thx for the heads up.

If all I had to go on was this page it doesn’t make it super clear that glide tables have a 25k limit. It’s kind of an “incidental inclusion” in a sentence about migration.I think they could repeat the wording from the pricing page info bubble you shared earlier.Jusf my opinion (I have created user guides for 20 years so I think about this stuff often :joy:).

Thx man
