Glide’s new plans and pricing [Closed Thread]

Lots of thoughtful comments in this thread!

As David mentioned, we’re in listening mode right now, compiling all the community responses for the team to review and follow up on.

We’re confident that the new plans are the right way forward, but we also know that there’s always room for improvement.

With that in mind, I’m seeing three recurring themes concerned with:

  • User limits and pricing on the Team and Business plans
  • Personal, school, and non-profit emails on the Maker plan
  • Available integrations + additional apps on the Maker plan

Let me know if there’s another major bucket I’m missing here. :+1:

Is Zapier considered an integration? Because I don’t see it in the integrations list on any plan.

I think you can add forewarning, transparency, and business ethics to the major bucket

The legacy Zapier integration is still available on the new free plan, so it should be available for all plans. This integration allows you to send data to Zapier, but does not receive data from Zapier. That would require integration with the API, which would require a paid plan.

Thanks. Even with paid though, I don’t see it in the integrations list.

Whoever the big user base is, we get the impression on the forum here that it is the individual users who get excited about the possibilities and the features and what used to be SCALABILITY, and spread the word, and help each other on this forum. Honestly, it is that last thing that really attracted me to Glide over the other venues is that willingness to help each other. Sure, you get the guys on here who simply say, “Shoot me a private message” and charge for their services (not a problem), but so many others simply willing to help because they believed in Glide as a great product. When your BASE – those who helped build the product by providing support to others, and by spreading the word about Glide in social media – starts to see themselves being forced out of the platform by attrition (legacy simply means “we hope they eventually just go away”), then you should up and take notice. Glide won’t miss my $25 a month. But I was very active in the Forum for years. I’ve been quiet lately, simply waiting for a way to move my very complex legacy App onto the new platform, only to find there’s not going to be a tool to do that, and even if there was going to be, my cost to stay on the platform will double.

The tier between free and “pro”, which used to be $25 (for starter or non-profit) seemed to be a “sweet spot” for a great many users. What could that look like going forward? My Apps won’t run on “free”, but with just a handful of users on what are essentially just “handy apps” doesn’t justify the $50 cost of “Maker”. These are Apps you probably would not have if they had to be developed in the traditional manner, but that Glide made it super-easy to write and implement, and make daily life easier and better and more fun. Isn’t that what no-code is about? Increasing productivity and making technology accessible to everyone?

My main App, once released, probably could justify the cost of “Maker”, but I have not been able to get to the point where it was feasible to release it. With just a handful of users, on a “read only” App, it was using 1/3 of my updates every month just with menu manipulations and user customizations. Now that the updates issue is resolved, there’s the issue of converting it to Pages. So 4 to 5 more months of development to do that, and my price doubles on top of that.

You are joking, right? You’re seriously going to rile everyone up first and then see how you might start making some adjustments.

Who do you think your users are? A bunch of toddlers?

Do you seriously expect us to take the management of Gilde seriously anymore? With all due respect… Come on!"

I would say your comment was anything but respectful.

I do agree that as adults we should provide constructive criticism in this thread, that is what they need to, and want to see from a large change such as this, I am hoping.

I understand people are soured by this, myself included, but I am still hopeful for a professional resolution. If there is one two things that really comprimise anyone in this world, its A. unforgiveness, and B. our own pride.

If we would all just swallow both, the world would be better off

We aren’t all on the same page when it comes to expectations for sure, but if we can keep it professional we can all move in a forward direction together.

My apologies if I came across as disrespectful. That was not my intention.

However, that doesn’t change the fact that yesterday and today I had to tell 4 clients that I cannot build an app for them due to the fact that Glide suddenly implements exorbitant price increases.

They are now thinking it over at Glide… They are currently in a listening mode…

Even if everything would be reversed next week. Do you think my clients will still trust me then? That my price quotes will still have any value?

The problem is not the price increases. The problem is that this company suddenly implements exorbitant changes which is obviously their right, but unfortunately also undermines trust in this platform.

As a Glide partner, you should be able to rely on stability, competent management, and well-considered decisions.

I sincerely hope that I will regain this trust because I find both the people here and the Glide platform amazing.

I already mentioned this, but to eliminate the problem for all developers, we need free users on all plans, just like in Make. That would be the major solution to everyone’s problem. If you read carefully, it’s the biggest concern; remove that limitation, and things will quickly calm down. Then, charge for usage and storage. Free up users and applications to foster more creative projects. I’m sure that if you unleash applications and users and raise prices on plans, people would be willing to pay since they would be at ease offering limitless solutions to companies without unnecessary constraints. I hope you consider this request because, based on everything I’ve read, it’s what is needed. Hopefully, it’s within your possibilities. An enhanced Make plan with more applications and storage at a higher price would be impressive. Thank you.

I have a question with the new plans, is the “trigger a webhook” action is no longer available? Will it count as an update? I have a “Pro team” and i cant find it

Can you search for 'Trigger Webhook"?

Yes, but i mean as an action on “Communication/Trigger a Webhook” which didn’t count as an “update”. Because now i see it on “Integrations/Trigger Webhook” and each run uses 1 update. So, if i have a Pro team, now all the webhooks that i used, will count to my updates?

I believe all old “Trigger a Webhook” would continue to run, but you can’t add them anymore. And yeah, any new “Trigger Webhook” would consume 1 update.

I must assure you, even Glide Experts (at least most of them) were not aware of the details of New Pricings and dates that it was going to be released…

nooooo… this knack doesn’t look even like some beta software!

I will finish my project here, but just for one purpose: my customer is crazy with his bilion changes. Glide is more than OK to build a working prototype. And then I will rebuild everything in few days on Bubble. I should spend these months there…

It has to be one page, 1000 rows table, synced with Airtable, free to more/less 200 visitors on internet. Nothing fancy calculator which helps to choose a proper tool. On the beginning public - to check idea and found bugs, after that we wanted to limit access with some login. A had everything for 25USD. Day to day price goes to 4 digits…

And I’m JUST AFTER super-tough discussion with customer, he said: “delete the project, I said to you: this will happen” and within one second I have lost few apps opportunities in his company - at least at Glide.
