Glide app for 500 users

I’ve already developed an app that uses API calls to ChatGPT.
It will be used by approximately 500 users per month.

I’ve tried to contact Glide because I believe I may need a Business Plan or a higher-tier option to support this number of users, but I haven’t received a response yet.

Does anyone know what I can do, or who I should contact to clarify the pricing and plan requirements?

Thank you!

Hi,

Please see the information below

Yes, but the information is not complete when you need more than 100 users.

@Marco_Espinel

How many updates per user do you think will be made per month? I have the maker plan and I can make 500, in the Business plan they can make 5000, and once exceeded they charge you 2 cents for each extra update, would you be charging a fee for the use of the App? You can make plans that include a number of updates, and you control it with the relations and a Rollup, the Business plan is best for you if your app will have no limits, only You would need to keep in mind that each extra update would be 2c, the imagen bellow references the Bussines plan,

Thank you very much for the information and also for your interest.

In addition to the updates issue, I also have a concern regarding the cost per user.
According to the Business Plan, the base plan includes 30 users, and each additional private user costs $5 per month.
In my case, the app will be used by around 500 users, which means approximately 470 extra users.
This would represent about $2,350 per month only for user access, before even considering the updates cost.

When I use the pricing calculator, as soon as I exceed around 90 users and 5,000 updates, the system tells me to “contact Sales”.
I have contacted Sales several times, but unfortunately I have not received any response yet. Because of this, I still do not know the real expected monthly price for an app of this size.

If anyone has experience with large user bases on Glide, or knows how to get a definitive answer from the Sales team, I would greatly appreciate your guidance.

Thank you again for your help.

Now I have an important doubt that I may not be understanding correctly.

My app will be used by around 500 students, but I am not sure whether these should be considered Private Users or Public Users under Glide’s pricing model.

From what I understand:

  • Private Users are counted individually and cost about $5 per extra user in the Business plan.
  • Public Users do not generate per-user charges, and the cost depends mainly on the number of updates.

Because of this, I am confused:
If my 500 students log in with email (Public with Email) or their university email, are they considered Public Users or Private Users?

This point completely changes the estimated cost.
The pricing calculator shows very high costs once I exceed 90 users, but I think that only applies to Private Users.
I have already contacted Sales several times, but I haven’t received any response, so I still don’t know how Glide categorizes this type of access.

Could someone please clarify whether my 500 students would count as Public Users or Private Users?

Thank you very much for your help.

Current plans do not have a concept of Private or Public users as far as billing is concerned. There are Public or Private Apps, but not Public or Private Users.

What you might be misunderstanding is the difference between Users and Personal Users. Explorer and Maker plans only allow personal users to sign into the app. Business and Enterprise plans allow any user to sign in. The difference depends on the domain of their email address. If all of your students have an educational domain for their email address, then they are considered Personal Users. If your users use a business domain, then they are just Users.

If a plan specifies Personal Users, then that plan is restricted to only allow users with personal email addresses to sign in. If the plan does not specify Personal, then any type of user can sign in.

Thank you again for all your help.
I still have a few important questions that I would like to confirm to ensure I fully understand how billing works for my use case.

My app will be used in a university setting, and all students have institutional emails under the domain:

@universidadexample.net

From what I understand, educational domains are usually treated as Personal Users, but I want to make sure this specific domain would also be classified as “personal” for Glide.
This is crucial, because I need to know whether I can use a Maker plan for a large number of students.

To summarise my questions clearly:

1. Is @universidadexample.net considered a Personal User domain?

If so, does this mean that students can sign in without restriction on a Maker or Explorer plan?

2. I currently have the Explorer plan and I am able to make calls to the ChatGPT API without any issue.

Is this expected behaviour?
In other words, can I continue to use external API calls (ChatGPT) on the Maker plan with no limitation other than the number of updates?

3. If all students are Personal Users, does this mean I can have an unlimited number of students using the app (e.g., 500 users), and I would only need to pay for additional updates at $0.02 per update?

Just to make sure:
There is no per-user cost in this scenario, correct?

I believe that if these points are confirmed, I will be able to calculate the exact monthly cost of the app.

Thank you very much again for your guidance — it is helping me clear up all the confusion around the pricing model.

There is a link in the document I shared above to validate if an email is considered personal or not. Here is that link.

Can you clarify how you are doing this? The Call API feature is only available on the Business plan and above. However, Glide AI is available on all plans.

Yes, with the Maker plan you are not limited by the number of users, but note that you are still limited by the number of rows available to your app. So it comes down to how many rows are generated by each user.

But yes, you would still need to consider the number of updates being used.

With the Maker plan, there is no per user cost. Only the other plan limitations to consider.

Thank you for the Personal user Validator Agent and for the clarification — let me refine the explanation on our side to avoid any misunderstanding.

We never used the Call API feature.
The communication with ChatGPT was implemented exclusively through the “Integrations” feature.

About one month ago, when we temporarily had access to the Glide Business plan (free trial), the ChatGPT integration offered more configuration options within the workflow. After the Business trial ended and we moved to the Explorer plan, those previously created integrations continue to execute correctly, but when creating new ones, the available options inside the ChatGPT integration are more limited.

So, to summarise:

  • We are not using Call API.
  • We are using ChatGPT via Integrations.
  • Existing integrations created during the Business period still run.
  • Creating new ChatGPT integrations is possible, but with fewer options than before.

Could you please confirm whether:

  1. The number of options available inside ChatGPT Integrations depends on the plan (Explorer/Maker vs Business), and
  2. Whether these existing integrations will continue to work long term if we stay on the Maker plan?

Thank you again for your help — this will help us decide the most appropriate plan.
