🆕 Deep Links

Here is a deep link demo in markdown wrapped inside a rich text component!

Wow…this is brilliant!!!

deep link demo to Chapter 12

@david you know what’s funny, I dont have a rowID for the chapters even though the link was created from a rowID details screen to a non-rowID details screen.

Even funnier…I did not use (1) sharing options; and (2) link to current screen

Update:

If your app is set to public, you can navigate to different tab on your app using deep link even in build mode, using my example.

I have done a back-to-back deep link demo of chapter 12 (no row ID) and Chapter 12 content (row ID) using rich text.

Hi @Ns_Melaka.
As wrote @SantiagoPerez, it doesn’t work on pc.
And Deep Link is only for Details Screens.
It does not work for tabs.
By the way, this could be a new feature:
Deep Links for each tab!

Sorry guys, got so carried away yesterday I copy pasted URL in the wrong order. That’s probably why you didn’t see the back-to-back connect. And, yes must be Details screen. All screens are on tabs (details or not), but I also see the difference, and it’s an important one when it comes to deep links I suppose. .

Here is the correct back to back demo-

So you have to create this share button for any tab or component you want to have its own shareable deep link?

You can copy this link to the clipboard, send it to Zapier, or use the Share action to let your users easily share items in your app any way they’d like.

Also, if you are viewing in a browser, you should be able to just copy the link int the browser url bar.

OK got it! Thanks! The clipboard action is new to me.

The url never changes for me however, as I click into different parts of the app. I’m doing it from my laptop browser.

It only works on rows that have RowID enabled. Do you have row IDs?

Yes, I do.

This is an excellent new feature, making Glide a true PWA.

A couple of questions?

  1. URL is too long and looks spammy. If it’s reliant on having a Row ID then why can’t the URL be just the Row ID?

  2. Will it be possible at some stage to be able to customise the links?

  3. Are the links discoverable and indexable by search engines?

  4. If so, would be great if we could have provision for SEO, i.e. custom meta titles and descriptions.

I was thinking this as well, does it have anything to do with the same row IDs for different apps or am I missing something here?

This would be excellent for sharing.

There’s more to that url than you think. It’s most likely encoded to account for any special characters and the additional info along with RowID.

Great new feature!.

But, How to have this link available within a Template Column?

Any ideas?

@Jen_NYCP do you have an app link we can look at? I think you will only see the deep link in the browser whenever viewing the detail view of a row that has RowID.

Ill DM you!

Does this work for buttons placed within a tab?

Just a thought but eventually there could be an opportunity for Glide to offer its own link shortening service, or allow us to hook up our own custom link shortener, as part of the Pro plan.
