Adding Emojis?

Hi there!
Has anyone had luck adding emojis? I’m looking to show a thumbs up or thumbs down emoji, depending on the situation. Using the image component makes it too big (and if I size the emoji down it just blows it back up). And rich text doesn’t allow me to set the right conditions.

Hi there Siva, I have not used an Emoji column in Glide, but there that’s option under the basic columns.

Can you please check that and then set an according If > Then > Else to see if it works?

Thanks for the suggestion – I tried that but it doesn’t seem to help with displaying the emoji. Tried text and image components.

Emoji is just text and works in any text component. What are you trying to do that you can’t with text right now?

Use WINDOWS button + . (Point) and you get the emoji option as text

These are two custom emojis (in image files) that I’d like to display inline with text.

I found a solution – the issue is that google sheets doesn’t have special characters but I found that if you type out the character in google doc and then cut/paste to sheets, it accepts / displays it … and then of course shows up nicely inline with text in the app. See in the screenshot below.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions.

Nice to see you found the solution. If you have any further questions feel free to post them.

There is actually a much easier way to do this than the whole copy paste scenario. Double click on the Google Sheets cell you want the emoji in so there is a cursor showing, then hit Control + Command + Space to pull up the emoji selections, then choose your emoji. Hope this helps!

It does - thanks! For next time.

I use this quite a bit and you can simply copy and paste the emoji. emojipedia.org
