Yikes My User Profile has gone screwy

HI Brains Trust
Hope all are well. I have somehow (don’t know how) upset the User Profiles section. I can’t add a row to the datasheet and all the users have been deleted from the user profiles data sheet.
I did a short video on this issue.

(Troubleshooting User Profile Issue 👩‍💻 | Loom)

Any ideas and suggestion greatly appreciated.

PS (Also now none of the user accounts are showing in the datasheet.)

You might have added row owners to a column you deleted. Add the column again, remove row owners.

Hi Nathanael,
Many thanks. I did have a Row ID column which I deleted because the name was showing the Row ID rather than the user’s name.

Should I not have the row ID column in the Users table please?

Many thanks for your support. Greatly appreciated.

Nathanael made no mention whatsoever of RowID.

He referred to row owners, which is a completely separate thing. There is a known bug where if you delete a column that has row owners applied, sometimes all data in the table will disappear. So I suspect that Nathanael was postulating that you might have triggered this bug.

The workaround is to add the column back.

Hi Darren,
Many thanks. The only column I deleted was Row ID which is why I asked Nathanael this question. As to Row Owners I think I did at one stage have the name and email assigned as user specific. Maybe this is where it went pear shaped. I deleted the row id because it was showing the row id instead of the user name in the profile section.

Would it be best if I simply re-created the users table (after making a copy first).

Many thanks for your support. Greatly appreciated.

I would try adding the RowID column back in first.

Hi Darren,
Many thanks. Add the Row ID back into the users profile however still cannot add rows to the users profile data sheet.

Many thanks for your support. Greatly appreciated

If the Users table appears as 0 rows and you cannot seem to add any rows, it does seem you triggered the bug that Darren is referring to.

You could try the following:

  • Add a basic column called Row ID from the menu of basic columns.
  • If that doesn’t work, add a column which you believe you might have previously deleted and try to name it exactly the same as previously.

If any of these two work, as you create the column the data will suddenly pop up. The data is still there, it’s just not displaying.

If any of those two don’t work, perhaps and hopefully you have a backup of your app and therefore data. If not, then if it were me I wouldn’t know what else to try and would create a new Users table.

Hi Nathanael B,
Many thanks for your response. What I have done is created a new user profile table (with a different name to start with) and then deleted the old user table and this seems to have worked.

Greatly appreciate your support
