☑️ User agreement checkbox on sign in screen

We do care Chrisophe, I hope I’ve made that clear. I have also said that this is a major priority for us and we are working on addressing and improving these areas right now.

@JackVaughan: Not sure what to make of your latest comment as we’re not seeking legal advice from you, instead we are expecting you to implement GDPR based on the legal advice that you have received.

As it stands, some sign-in methods have large gaps that need to be addressed.

(When I say you, I mean Glide of course).

Couldn’t you just start by making that free instead of Pro? Would solve a lot of the points discussed here and avoid your community starting to grunt and leave.

You’ve been so good at sharing and engaging with us all since the start. And we all want to keep supporting and using Glide.

Thanks in advance

@garrison we are working on making Glide GDPR compliant right now. How can I make this clearer?

Out of interest - for those of you that are making free apps and require pro features like the checkbox - what kinds of apps are you making? Why do they need to be GDPR compliant? Surely you’re just using it personally/with friends & family?

Maybe it’s time for a paid in-between version with pro features but maybe a higher row limit?

@Naos_Wilbrink Yes, this is something we are also addressing.

Thank you Jack, really reassuring to read that it’s a major priority for you.

As I’m concerned, my app is not just for friends and family, but for my community of blog and insta followers as a way for them to get access to all the hotels I mention in the blog at their fingertips when on the go. The blog is a hobby and I do not make any money from it.

Interesting that you say that: so in Glide’s model, all free apps are just internal/for friends and all pro apps are for everyone else? I think there will be lots of scenarii where the distinction will be greyer (like mine) and yes, a medium tier would be good. However, rather than increasing the row limit, I’d have some of the pro features enabled.

Yes, in future we will have much more flexibility in terms of upgrades/pricing etc - rather than just the one-size-fits-all model.

@JackVaughan Why do you need to be GDPR compliant when creating app for friends & family? Well, it is the law.

I do some community apps (public) - and I would like to use some of the basic features of glide like favorites, user-specific data, forms - where data is obtained (and stored) from the user. I don’t do it right now as I cannot see that it can be done - and still being GDPR compliant. Would I like to do it - of course

@JackVaughan, yes I know that, but your comment about not being able to document what is and is not GDPR compliant falling into the realms of giving legal advice, was opaque.

We are not asking you to give legal advice.

This conversation is not going anywhere. Regardless, Jack does not handle such issues at Glide—our lawyers and I do.

Our terms of service require that you use Glide in a way that obeys the laws that apply to you. If using Glide causes you to break a law, you are required by our terms not to use Glide in that way—even if that means you cannot use Glide at all.
