Switch Apps & Pages - Mobile & Desktop users

Hi guys! A quick question here, I have made two very similar, but different apps for a project. One works perfect for mobile, the other one for desktop. I’ve already put them under different subdomains.

I’ve been trying to look around in Youtube, and around, but can’t seep to find a good solution. How can I redirect mobile users to the Apps, and Desktop users to the Pages? Do I do this from Google Domains settings, or the Glide site itself?

I’m not a developer or anything, so if anyone could help with the least technical-knowledge needed solution, I would highly appreciate it! Thank you very much in advance.

Glidepages works really well with the phones as well so I would suggest you to make Glide page your primary project. If anyone logs in on their phone, they will see a mobile view of Glidepages which is really good and if they open on computers they will see a web-view.

P.s, having a glideapp and glidepage for a same project is a bit of a hassle. Everytime you need to make an update or add new feature, you need to do it on both projects.

Hi Sevo

I agree with Hassan. The whole idea of having a responsive website (or progressive web app) is that what is displayed on the screen will dynamically “respond” (=adapt) to the screen on which the app is being displayed.

Glide Pages is responsive. Glide Apps is either responsive in a very limited fashion or not at all (depending on your point of view). Based on recent announcements, Glide Pages is Glide’s feature product going forward and Glide Apps will gradually be phased out.

If I were you I would stick to Glide Pages only.

I think it might be a good idea to switch to glide page, however I would like to make you aware of one thing, which is that to have already tested both, glide app remains much more appropriate than glide page if you wish having a real “app”, the loading is faster and the fluidity is quite different.

If they really want us to forget about glide app then they will have to make glide page perform on mobile just as well as glide app. Which is far above in terms of use at the moment.

Thanks for the input, but Glide Pages functionality isnt up to par yet what Im building, as the fluidity and speed on Mobile is missing

So going back to my original question, is there a way to switch/ automatically redirect users based on Mobile-Desktop?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Nathanael, thanks for the input! So going back to my original question, is there a way to switch/ automatically redirect users based on Mobile-Desktop? I understand the point of a responsive web, but right now I just have to publish what I have, and users need to land on the right appp/ pages depending on their device. Could you help me with a solution please? I use Google Domains as my hosting. Thanks

Hello, I think this is not possible, because the only way I know is using Htaccess… and for use this in glide your need have access to your glide serv, and you don’t have it.

But … You can nevertheless make a redirection at the root of the problem, imagine you want customers to access their glide portals from your website? On your website you can absolutely create a redirection condition.

For example, you have a “connect” button on your site and this sends you directly to the right link depending on your device.
