All that would need to happen from glides end is for the button element to be added to home screen it is then up to the app owner to decide what happens when that button is clicked.
So I have just tried to access this site and get this message, as a person wanting to view the app what do I do???
Can you get a developer at glide to look at this please?
The developer of that specific app would have to add you to the whitelist of valid emails in their sheet. I guess to me it’s generally accepted that if you are using a whitelist for your app, you are using it in a closed environment where you already know the users and have preentered their emails. If you are willing to allow anybody access to the app, then Public with Email is the better option. It doesn’t sound like that is the scenario you want. I use whitelist in my app because I only want certain people that I personally know to access the app. If somebody would need to be added, such as a new employee, I would just have to be notified by some other means. If you were to add a button on the login screen of a whitelisted app that would send you an email of a new request for access, what would happen if your URL got out to thousands of people and they all requested access at once? Would you individually go through each and every email to approve them. I’m not opposed to your request as it would be beneficial in many situations and everybody has a different scenario for their app, but I just want to make sure you understand the potential consequences.
Good points Jeff. But to be honest the consequences would be my issue to deal with not glides if I had thousands of requests I know I was onto something good! They could all give me some cash! (Joking)
There are loads of ways I could deal with that, set up a zap to send an automated reply, redirect them somewhere, point them to a payment form (if I want to charge) etc.
It’s my problem to sort.
I could always turn the button off, or hide it. Again that’s down to me. Currently I have no control.
My issue is that we want potential users to be able to get or have a method to get access.
Ps what app have you built? I bets its superb
My primary app is for a few skating coaches to track students, their skating lessons, test/competition results and general information. This is an older, simpler scrubbed version of it: https://vkjff.glideapp.io/
