I’m just trying to make sure you aren’t filtering your detail screen by email or some other method where you might be viewing an actual row, but other users are not viewing any data at all. User Specific columns will only store data if a user is signed in. If the app is public, then it is only temporarily stored on the device. Subs like your are signing in. User Specific columns do not require a user’s email on the row. It just stores the value for that user within the column/row they are currently viewing.
Screen shots would help a lot. Also, what would you like me to look at? I didn’t see an app link posted anywhere in this thread. You would also have to make it copyable so I could make a copy to see how you have it set up.
Hi
Thanks for your offer of help - yet again !
I have set up the rating on two tabs that go to 2 different data tables fo you to “play with”
All of these examples are from your app copied directly as is without any manipulation.
This this first example from the first tab, I selected a rating of 4/5 hearts. However, since you don’t have any filtering for the tab in place and since I don’t have a user profile set up, I would have expected the very first row to change from a 9 to a 4. It did not change. Then I realized that you have turned on Row Owners in the profile sheet. Since my email was not in the list, I was not on a specific row to update it’s record.
Once I set the Preview As to Lisa’s address, I was able to obtain the rating since I was actually on an existing row
On the Welcome tab, again with no manipulation, I selected 3/5 pizzas. That value did write to the user specific column, so to me that is working as expected.
From what I can see everything is working correctly. Just keep in mind that you will not see a users rating in a user specific column (welcome tab) unless you are previewing as them. That saved value is specific to only them. Your column in the Profile sheet is part of the google sheet and will write to the sheet, but another rating by another user will overwrite it. Also since you are using Row Ownership, the value will only be saved to the row if there is a record for the signed in user. It appears that you are using user profiles, so that shouldn’t be a problem. I also just want to mention that I did create a published link and open the app outside of the dev environment where I was forced to sign in. On both tabs the selected rating did show in the dev environment and when refreshing the app, both ratings components did fill with the previously selected rating for my signed in user.
Thanks for testing and help
The Welcome tab does do what I want - So I can see what the individual users think! -I do know them all - there are about 100 in my region here in France …
I cant understand what happened when I tested as a user - perhaps it had not updated on my phone…
Many thanks once again.
Loving Glide!
