Question - Glide arrays

Does Glide Data Builder create arrays when naming consecutive columns (e.g. test1, test2, test3, test4 would show up as an array named test)?

Would this show up as an array in the builder and as test1 test2 test3 test4 in the layout editor?

Glide only does that if you are using a google sheet. Not sure about other external data sources.

You would only see the array on the table, but I believe the array and individual columns are available to use anywhere.

I thought it only did that from the google sheet side - not the Glide side. I just ran into that case - I create xxx1, xxx2, xxx3 columns in sequence from the builder and they were turned into a array in the Data editor. But individually named in the layout editor.

I’d like to see a screen shot of that from the Data Editor. If that really happened, then it’s something completely new.

I would think it wouldn’t matter whether you created the columns within the google sheet or within the data editor. As long as they are created sequentially and positioned next to each other in the google sheet, they should turn into an array. I don’t think glide cares where the columns were created. It’s the position of the columns in the sheet and the naming of those columns that determines if an array is formed.

Google sheet arrays have always had both the array and individual columns that make up that array accessible in the layout editor.

ah, yes. That’s correct. I can see now that I misread. I thought he was saying he saw that behaviour in a native table.

If only…

That would be neat. Or how about a normal basic array column, instead of hacking through something intended for images or files.

Indeed. But the big one would be a non-computed array column that could be configured as the Role column.
