Hi Glide Community and Team,
I would like to propose a much-needed feature regarding the native “Install App” PWA banner.
Currently, when we deploy a Glide App to the Apple App Store or Google Play Store (using wrappers like Natively), the default PWA “Install App” smart banner still automatically prompts users inside the app.
This creates a highly confusing user experience. A user who has already gone through the process of searching, downloading, and installing the app directly from the official App Store opens the app only to see a banner asking them to “Install the App” again.
We need a simple toggle switch in the Glide Settings panel (under Publishing or Appearance) that allows developers to enable or disable the “Install App” PWA banner entirely.
- Eliminates UX Confusion: Users who already have the native store app won’t be prompted with redundant installation banners.
- Cleaner Store Deployment: It allows developers to maintain a seamless, professional, and premium native app experience when transitioning from PWA to official app stores.
- Better Control: Gives us the flexibility to decide how and when we want to promote the PWA installation based on our distribution strategy.
I believe many developers who are publishing their Glide apps to the stores are facing this exact issue. I would love to hear the community’s thoughts and hope the Glide team can add this simple toggle to the product roadmap soon!
Thank you!
