Hello from Berlin. My name is Nathanael

Ah, c’est pour ça ! Ah, that’s the reason! OK, I can connect the dots.
As I sometimes re-learn German and English at the same time, my English can still be influenced by the people I talk to. If I speak the whole time with a native American, my intonation will be allright. But If not, I can sometimes have this weird accent not really German, not “that Frenchy”, but not really English. A few more months and I should reach my level back again.

As long as you live & love somewhere you belong to…
Very lucky to at least cross your path in such a Planet, a Community, Jeff & all of you here.
I feel tiny
yet so GREAT
And Grateful.
I think that’s understandable.
Simple words.
Literally & figuratively.

Our accent can serve as a clue, a hint of one of the community we belong to.
It’s noticed within the 1st seconds of 1st impression on so. And can often trigger a bonding effect, or a conversation starter.
When so says his/her name in a phone talk, then goes on with the conversation, I make my educated guess and at the right moment say that I hear kind of accent, it sounds (region of France or foreign country, etc.) Which most of the time results in a very spontaneous emotion. Over the phone, you can hear and imagine how your contact is pleased, happy you care and change his/her tone of voice to a less formal one. The breathing is different.
Powerful.
Learning everyday how to speak to people.

At the risk of re-opening a wound here, I’ll post my favourite video that I show to clients and friends that are learning English. Enjoy!

 You’re a badass boss, Blake, thks for this priceless moment. And I’ve seen hundreds of one-two.man shows in many open-mic stages to be aware of all their “techniques”, till some of these people become famous, so I’m not that easy to impress.

I suddenly feel pity for the
“personal ass-istant”…
Ismo is a great stand-upper.
We have some équivalents in France of English-humorist learning French.

Wound? You still feel hurt somehow, Blake? Sorry for that :slightly_frowning_face:
“On a scale of 1 to 10, how do you rate your pain?”

When I learned English, I usually read that wounds are only injuries caused by gun shots, not emotional pains.
