Seems crazy that you can not specify the order of both a group and items within a group
I would love to see (just like you can in Airtable)
- Ability to sort by group
- Ability to define the sort order within each group
- Ability to add a second sort (sort by this, then that…)
Pretty basic request - surprised it is not possible now

There is actually a workaround.
Create a template column and put “group - name”.
Replace group by the column you use for grouping. Replace the name by the name of the element.
Use that template column as the sort option.
You can also play with numbers if you want specific groups to be sort from another group field.

Thanks Maxime
I’ve done that too - just think there should be a way out of the box.
I should have added - I would also like to be able to sort by a field that is not displayed.
For example - I have group names - and would like to have them in a particular order - not alphabetical - defined by a numeric “sort order field”
In other solutions - you’ve been able to define a sort field which isn’t the one being displayed.
My only way of doing it is as per the attached - which is rubbish!!

I was able to do it without the name of showing the numbers.
Here’s a template I made for you:

Thanks so much!
Rather frustratingly - grouping and sorting behaviour is different between the list and table components! Grrrr…
