Looks like this part had been missed when adjusting Usage Docs to the new pricing. Found it in Glide Docs Usage
Thanks for flagging! We will fix shortly
Hi, I would add file storage on the Maker plan, I know it’s been mentioned a lot, but without that being scalable it essentially makes all my apps obsolete
I would add that ability to get additional storage to any plan would be appreciated… if not necessary
Honestly, this came out of left field. Last year I started converting and old app on glide to a new one built on glide tables. But after a couple of months I realized that managing the tables in glide was a complete nightmare - the very simple fact that you cannot filter data in a table but have to literally scroll down it to find records. This led be back to another 6 months developing on google sheets.
Now, I’m having to reverse again - an entire year spent on development down the drain!
Question for someone - are there plans to filter rows in glide tables?
I have been trying to find an explanation for Price per User cost difference between Team and Business plan… And I can not think of any but one. As I understand Team and Business are meant to be scalable from one into another… Am I right? But as soon as you switch, your exact same users doubled in cost. On Team with 20K updates you can have 95 users for $800, when on Business same set up will cost you $1260. Does the access to Call API, CSS, barcode scanner, BTs and a few other integrations worth extra 460$ a month?
I would really appreciate some clues on what am I missing? Or am I devaluing the importance of the additional features that come with Business plan?
Hi, I firmly believe that the management team at Glide is really smart. This is confirmed by the fact that in 2022 they raised $20 million in funding from Benchmark with participation from YC Continuity, First Round, SV Angel (information from TechCrunch).
I don’t know when the decision was made to move from B2C to B2B, but it represents a complete change in the company’s business model (customer resegmentation).
However, I wonder if Glide is ready for the B2B market. Mendix, Outsystems, Appian and Microsoft have been operating there for many years. Glide has never been mentioned in Gartner or Forrester reports. It’s worth noting that Glide’s cost per user is approaching Mendix’s cost per user.
Regardless, Glide will be an interesting case study to discuss in my MBA classes
Was there warning about this change that I missed? If I’d known and thought through the ramifications of this I could have bumped a couple of seasonal applications up to pricier plans in advance of needing them and left them sitting on the Legacy plans
Nope, no heads up were given…
I don’t think anyone is doubting the Glide management is smart. That would be why they are the management of a great software. But from a customer stand point I won’t put another fraction of a second into building on the Glide platform.
I share ‘some’ comments on this this forum with other CEO’s and CTO’s and it is almost hard to believe. You can not try and attract a customer and when you do, treat them like they are a pest to you when “your” plan doesn’t work out. It’s disgraceful to be honest. I can see some Uber talented developers on here that want to use Glide but are trying to push a square through a rectangle hole to make it work for them and their clients. Mainly because they love Glide.
Glide to me is like the girlfriend I didn’t want to break up with… She has everything I want but not the things I need. I tried so hard to make it work but she just simply wants to go in a totally different direction. Sure, we will stay friends but ultimately I need to look elsewhere to find a relationship that will work long term.
To the developers of this platform, you are the bee’s knees. But as far as the ethos of this development project goes there has been some serious errors. Mainly communication issues. A simple, “Hey Glider’s, we need to push harder into a new direction of B2B to ensure we have a secure future. There’s some pricing adjustments coming soon that will reflect this very need. Thank you for your loyalty and ongoing support, it means the world to our crew. Team Glide.”.
The folks that speak out here on this forum are entrepreneurs, inventors, creators, developers, believers. Just because they are not enterprise clients of Glide does in no way make them less potential. In fact the opposite.
Listening mode? Come on…
Is the Enterprise Plan an improved version of the Business Plan, or is it meant to customize plans based on how an organization uses Glide? Specifically, does Glide provide a discounted per-user rate for the Enterprise Plan if apps are designed for specific purposes?
You can search your data in the data editor, but I guess my question is why? Couldn’t you just build a front end screen to search your data and edit if necessary?
Heh… so obvious:
500 huge clients x 1000 USD = 500 000 USD monthly
5000 small clients x 50 USD = 250 000 USD monthly
Simple, as I read, someone puts money into Glide. So, this had to happen!
Answer for investor: one move makes US (GLIDE) much more worth.
It is a disease of all SaaS - f(orget) small clients.
“Stick with Wordpress” makes a lot of sense, no surprises here…
Building GLIDE app? For sure there is a plugin for that
Being new to Glide, I built a simple app to see what it and I could do with it, with great help from this community. I socialized the new app with my clients and co workers. All good. Have requests for half a dozen app builds. Some in company and some customer facing for a fee. Got to say I love Glide. The few weeks I’d been working on Glide, I had been building daily. But after the pricing announcement, full stop. Doesn’t seem feasible to scale from the street level. Too much to pay up front before even getting to scale, when starting out with a small user base initially. Love Glide, but have been looking at alternatives ever since. Thought I’d found a home in Glide for many years and apps to come, but the alternatives look very enticing and feature rich. Don’t want to switch, but as a small shop, not seeing a choice. Waiting to see if anything on the new plans gets adjusted, like many it seems.
Some food for thoughts based on my 30+ years in development and sales:
USERS
-Developers (currently called Editors) are Users that develop and maintain apps.
-Editors (currently called Users) are Users who perform CRUD actions.
-Viewers (currently called Users) are Users who view read-only data.
Developers are already defined by being a Member of a Team, for the others its easy to use something like this
where collections etc. are automatically defined as read-only for viewers.
Developers and Editors can be assigned per plan, albeit a bit higher in numbers, Viewers should be unlimited on any plan (except Starter).
PLANS
-Starter Plan stays the same as the current Free plan, but a little bit upgraded, like before.
-Professional Plan includes Glide Tables.
-Business Plan includes also Goggle Sheets, Airtable etc…
-Enterprise Plan includes also Glide Big Tables plus SQL etc.
My suggestion is that Professional Plan, Business Plan and Enterprise Plan start at a lower price range and charge for additional apps, users (developers & editors), updates, integrations etc. on a gliding plan.
-Custom Plan takes the idea a bit further in charging a base fee for using Glide and allow one to create his own plan based on his own requirements e.g.
-10 apps with Glide Tables, 2 with Glide Big Tables (100k), 1 with Glide Tables (10M)
-2 Developers, 20 Editors
-3000 Updates, 20 Integrations etc.
-Community Support, Glide Support or Glide Priority Support
IMHO This would be the perfect plan for most users, including me, as long its priced reasonable and scalable.
-Expert Plan, same as Custom Plan, applying the agreed discount for Experts, eliminates the need for the new Agency Plan .
Hope that this will be helpful.
Same here. Looking at airtable and stacker now.
At the end of the day, you’ll probably have the same experience if they’re looking to raise funds, which will push them towards strong profitable growth.
Otherwise, it’s not a good sign in terms of sustainability.
This is the dilemma for any startup (including SaaS company) that is not sure and dedicated to develop its business with “small and medium-sized customers”: in early stage there is the dream, then comes the reality
Alternative: learning to read Python + Html and be helped by gpt: time investment is probably much lower than switching tools each 2 years …
Wait what… I just opened the billing dashboard and it says I’m on the team plan, it should say Pro. I started a free trial for Business on 5th of Jan to test the Big Tables and Call API function. On the 12th of Jan I got a reminder that the trial will end soon and I clicked on the link in the email to stop the upgrade as the features I tested didn’t work like I needed so the plan was not suitable for me. I received an email from David on the 17th of Jan " New plans tailored to you. But don’t worry. Your plan and limits are not changing.". From that date, I came to the forums to contribute to the community, in the belief I escaped the new plans.
Now the experience is very confusing.
In the top right: “Team plan plan $125.00” [yes it says ‘plan plan’]
In the top left “Pro”
Inside the app editor “Team”
The table that shows usage appears to be from the Pro plan, however, it still says 5,000 public users which I believe was a bug from the previous price change, that never got fixed.
Can anyone reconcile this experience?
There have been requests to have filtering and sorting on a Glide table. I don’t think it is known if or when that feature would be shipped.
The way Glide is structured, a Glide Table doesn’t need to be filtered or sorted in the data editor. That is what the layout editor is for.
That being said, you can create a filtered version of a table with the query column, or to a lesser extent by using the template and relation columns in tandem.
From the time the new plans came out, the old plans cannot be selected anymore.
So if you were on a business trial and the trial ended after the new plans came out, the plans available are the new plans, Pro not being among those.
