Not sure this is a design feature or flaw - if I had designed a page and if we change the source tab then everything will be gone - is there anyway we can copy the previous job done AND change the tab at same time?

Yes, that’s expected behaviour. Components that you add to a screen are tied to columns in the table that the screen is attached to. If you change that table (the source), then the columns that the components were tied to are no longer there, and so the components “break”.
If you find that you are wanting identical (or almost identical) screens that are attached to different tables, that is often a sign that your database setup may not be ideal.
If you want to copy and paste components, you can right click in the components panel in the lower left panel in the builder, and select Copy All.
