I’m working on creating our conference app. We always have a vendor hall, and I was wondering if it’s possible to set-up any kind of gamification to encourage attendees to interact with vendors? Maybe something similar to Pokemon Go, or scanning QR codes at the vendor tables, or a scavenger hunt…?
Great idea! Pokemon uses VR which is not native in Glide. However, QR scanning and scavenger hunts are possible with Glide.
I actually asked ChatGPT to expand a bit on those two options:
Digital Scavenger Hunt: Create a scavenger hunt where attendees collect digital tokens or badges from each vendor by scanning QR codes placed at their booths. Each token can reveal a piece of a puzzle or a clue leading to the next vendor. Completing the scavenger hunt could earn attendees entries into a prize draw.
Leaderboard Challenges: Implement a points system where attendees earn points for each vendor interaction, such as scanning a QR code, visiting a booth, or participating in a vendor’s mini-game or survey. Display a live leaderboard in the app and at strategic locations around the venue. Offer rewards for top scorers daily or at the end of the conference.
Me: The trick is to keep the gamification as low friction as possible. So ideally keep interactions at each booth to 2 actions or less (e.g. Scan QR + Answer multiple-choice quiz, or Scan only…)
I’m not married to any specific game, and I completely agree that people want simple. Is there a way to scan QR codes within Glide now? I remember trying to do something similar last year, and there wasn’t an easy way to scan QR codes. I don’t see a QR code component. Is there a way for people to scan a QR code using their camera or other scanning app and have it easily and automatically added into something within Glide, so it can keep track of their progress?
