Community with Glide Page?

Hi,

Which attention points would you take into account to build a ‘Community oriented’ site with Glide Page (features: :black_small_square: members :black_small_square: forum :black_small_square: chat :black_small_square:documents sharing?)

Ex.

  • Rows consumption
  • Gigabytes consumption (manageable by making mandatory to provide links)
  • Nb of users
  • No native features in GlidePage

Thanks

First 3 points are sure concerns when you build a community on Pages. Can you explain more on “no native features”?

Thank you @ThinhDinh.

“No native feature”: there is no native component in glidePage such as “chat” in glideApp. This is not a blocking point.

The first 3 points are indeed key. Do you see other glidePage limitations when it comes to build a “Community” project?.

Thanks

Thanks, @AyS_0908. There is no native chat feature. I don’t see any limitations. Depends on the nature of the project. Can you share more?

  • Nb of users: public vs private access makes quite a difference here.

  • Nb of rows: whenever I start a project on Glide, one of the important considerations is if the information is to increase regularly by design. For instance: “Daily sales” or “Invoices” or “Receipts”. Well, by design, unless you purge old data, “daily” or “invoices” or “receipts” means the threshold of any plan will be reached. Reached within a long or short period of time?

  • Features: Sure you can do tons and tons with Glide. It depends what exactly you have in mind. One could maybe build Glide’s community forum in Glide, but would one really want to, there’s already software for that. One could build an e-commerce marketplace, but would one really want to? And so on.

I do love Glide a lot and use it for a lot, but tbh for a community, I would personally look at something like Circle that’s made for communities from the ground up, supplying features like chat / events / video out of the box. And no limits like rows.
