Chat gpt 4

Any information when we we get access to chat gpt 4?

I believe that is based on your own OpenAI account. Whenever you get access to GPT-4 API, then you should be able to use its model name in Glide.

Hi, are you sure that GPT-4 is working?
Knowing that I have subscribed to it on openai, when I try to launch a “Complete Prompt” via Glide, I keep having an error message, that I don’t have when I use gpt-3.5-turbo…

Thanks

What error do you see?

I have this messagewith “complete prompt” with Gpt-4 (but not with gpt-3.5-turbo)

Weird…

That is the correct thing to expect. gpt-3.5-turbo and gpt-4 use two different endpoints, with a slight difference in how the call is structured. Glide’s “complete prompt” action can only interact with gpt-3.5-turbo and below, as far as I understand.

It would be interesting to understand if the barrier to upgrading the Glide AI connection to GPT 4.0 is technical or financial. The new models are far superior, especially when dealing with maths and stats.

Glide doesn’t only use OpenAI to power Glide AI, it uses other AI services and models as well. One of the ideas behind Glide AI is that it is a managed service: the Glide developer doesn’t need to think about the AI model it will use (OpenAI, ChatGPT, Whisper, Azure, which model, etc. etc.) nor about the cost. Depending on the situation, Glide will manage the service and cost automatically.

Ok but with respect, you could still answer the question more directly…. And it’s not true the Glide developer does absolutely need to know the model. I will not use AI to run stats and forecasting tasks when I believe it’s going to rely on GPT 3.5, which is utterly useless for that.

That’s a good callout.

Glide AI handles a lot of core AI functionality quite well, and that’s what it was designed for. If you need to configure your model, use the OpenAI integration instead.

Back to the question, friends… what is the barrier for Glide not using GPT 4.0 for any GPT AI request? Financial and/or Technical?

@Simon_Hill - Thanks for putting us back on track.

I just spoke with the team. Gist:

Use the Send message to ChatGPT action or column (with or without history). Those should work with GPT-4 and all the new models.

From what I understand, after talking to the team, is that GPT-4 is more expensive, slower, and not necessarily better for all use cases.

We’re reviewing the other OpenAI action/column options – answer question, complete prompt, etc… – to determine which models are best suited to those tasks.

Hope that helps!
