Hello!
Suddenly Date pickers not following the app theme. And not showing placeholder text.
Any clue?
Is this still an issue on your end? Does a refresh help?
what do you mean by refresh?
I mean a refresh of your app/builder to see if the theme here reverts to what it should be.
Are you comparing the date picker to date time picker? Both of your screenshots look to be different screens.
I know there have been some changes to the pickers. Not saying for better or worse, but there were changes. I haven’t fully read up or explored what changed yet. I believe that all changed at least a couple weeks ago.
I’m not quite sure if the original pickers were a Glide design or something else, but I’m pretty sure Glide may have reverted to using the native browser based pickers to maintain consistency and familiarity for the end user and what they are used to on their particular device and browser. A user will see the same date picker regardless of which website they use, whether it’s a Glide app or something else. However, the style of the picker depends on the browser and device. Apparent if you look at some examples, especially on different devices. It may not seem consistent when testing with different devices, but to the average user it should feel natural and familiar with what they have always seen as a picker on various websites with their particular device, provided those websites are using the standard spec and not something custom.
I guess maybe it has been a rollout across regions or something, but I know my apps were still using it in the last two days because I use it nearly daily for a timesheet app.
It’s not the end of the world and making it more familiar with end users “typical” makes sense too, but I preferred the glide (old) version to my native one, many times over.
More on @Patricio_MK 's case, I was under the impression that the theme color can be the main problem here.
In the past, when I quickly change between different apps in the builder environment, the new one picked up the previous’ theme settings. That’s the context on why I was suggesting a refresh.
I refreshed many times it’s not the case, it happened before and reverted on it’s own
If it persists, I would suggest creating a ticket through the builder chat.
As @Jeff_Hager said, we’ve been trying to roll out the native date/time picker on mobile for some time because the experience on the device is so much better than any javascript component we can create (the beauty of native code). Please let us know if there are issues when using it on the device. Thanks! ![]()
