Not exactly. This assumes the overall POC is limited to just a Glideapp. In one of the POCs i’m experimenting with there is a lot going on to register the user before they get to a Glideapp (forms, registration, terms, etc) with scripts, Zappier, IFTTT so that by the time they get to the glideapp there is a big incentive for the user to have to go trough the half a dozen steps on “how do I save this app to to home?” and “you are emailing me a pin?”
To illustrate: imagine a glideapp supporting a conference/event where the users registered on the website and when they install the glideapp it welcomes them by name.
Setting my POC and the conference example aside, my feedback for David and the Glideapp team was to keep the spirit of the SKUs consistent (“we want Pro apps to simply increase these limits” - david) to keep the developer POCs, developer experimentation and, most importantly, the feature telemetry for Glideapps future innovation consistent with that spirit (developers select it, then Glideapp gets usage telemetry/feedback and the feature is improved)
With regards to the number of allowed whitelists: the new pricing seems to vector towards storage… “more rows = more value”… if you take it to the extreme: if “more users create more rows” then allow infinite whitelist… but if you want to cap it then… definitely allow it on the free plan and get usage telemetry of the correct ‘whitelist threshold’ that matches the 500 rows and 25000 rows usage threshold (numbers that one imagines were picked based on telemetry and not randomly )
Glideapps team: Thank you for glideapps!! Keep going!
As soon as someone has an app that I can’t comprehend, or ever hope to build, I feel they should be willing to go Pro. Ha.
Feel free to pay me to screen them, at the rate of one Pro app for every one I force an upgrade on.
Seriously, I love free as much as anyone but I have to imagine that Proof of Concept does not require more than a reasonable sized sampling of the total potential load at full functionality.
Sad to have to give this news but unfortunately I will have to stop using Glide and look for another more open and less closed alternative, when I started using Glide I was amazed at what it provides, even though some PRO components offered functions that at least less for me it was very useful, but after this new policy between free and paid is no longer useful for me, for the very expensive price in Brazil and new functions that are no longer free among others.
500 items per app (rows from your spreadsheet used in your app)
100MB of files or images uploaded per app
10 address-based pins per map (you can display unlimited pins using coordinates)
Email Whitelist is only available in Pro apps
Especially the last Email Whitelist option that made the app just a showcase.
A hug to everyone, and maybe use Glide again for a more simple and basic function.
I don’t know of good open source alternatives, they might come but are not around now. And when you compare Glide to Appsheet or Adalo it’s pricewise by far the best option. Let us know what you find!
Sorry to reopen this! My app was created and had 500+ rows prior to the introduction of Free vs. Pro. Tonight I noticed that my app is now showing the 500 row warning, and is no longer allowing me to edit it. Can I DM a link please? @Mark@david
I just went PRO for myAPP last week.
I am looking for a solution where the ADMIN App for the myAPP is free of cost APP
As I was browsing the forum - I came across your post.
Can you elaborate on “Please use a Glide Org to create admin apps, where you only pay for admin access.” or point me to some document on how ensure my ADMIN App is free of cost.
Note: There will be only one person operating as the ADMIN App and it need not be PUBLISHED
2019 : adding huge limit on row for free apps preventing the use of glide in a lots of situation, but to balance that, remove all “pro limitation” on feature
2020 : add back pro limitation on some feature
Hey. First off, thanks for the amazing tool.
My question is - you have mentioned that “you can display unlimited pins using coordinates” . but it isn’t working for me and it shows me error “Free Map limit reached” . Did you happen to change it now?
The coordinates are working as expected. But I still see an error message “Free Map limit reached”. Is that normal? is there a limitation on number of coordinate points that can be plotted on Map?
