@Carlos_DeSilva thank you for understanding—the pricing is the same, yes.
Yes, I had same conclusion. I was in peace after that, but now I don’t know the future of the apps of the community I serve. They’d use apps for long time. Now, I don’t know.
Thanks for the tip but I still have 2 doubts:
-
If I have a sheet with 10 columns (A,B…J) and each one has 80 rows so, it will have 800 values. Will my app be exceeding the limit of 500?
Is everything about the rows loaded by Glide and not the items/values? -
I have a spreadsheet with 10 sheets but only 2-3 of them will be my final data to be used by my app (some filters and calculation will be done by the other 8-7).
If the total rows of my whole spreadsheet is 900 but my app will load only 300, Am I in troubles with the new limit or not?
I have had this curiosity since I discovered this wonderfull product months ago: Will Glide always load the data belonging to all sheets even though my app is going to use 2-3 sheets? I am worry about throughput of my app!
I have to admit that the news about the new limit is a hard strike but I understand your position, it’s better have you in the business instead of losing this great product.
Thanks in advange for your reply.
Saludos muchachos!
- No, that’s 800 cells in just 80 rows.
- If only 300 rows are used in your sheet, you should be well within the free app limit.
you could at least grandfather without limits also apps with just one user for personal use Difficult to monetize these single user apps. and are good for learning skills
@Gerard_Fernandez if I’m understanding correctly, you would already be grandfathered in without the limits if you already had app before the change was made.
Good thing to hear that file picker and buy button will be available for Free apps.
About the limits, i think it is a good move made by Glide.
Just want to confirm the limits when i upgrade to PRO.
- Is the items will limit to 25,000 rows only?
- What is total limit for files or images uploaded?
- the limits for address-based pins? is it unlimited?
That is what they said yesterday. But I understand today they say they grandfather only if limits have already been achievd.
So, is this the much-requested feature where a ‘special value’ form field can be used to submit the logged in users current geocode (similar to ‘current_date/time’, or ‘user_email_address’?
Cheers,
Alex
Hi David & the gliders. First i’m an early fan of Glide, It’s an amazing tool and what you did since the beginning is awesome! I appreciate the transparency of your communication and the way you want to build your business involving your users in each step. By the way i build an app a year ago which probably reach the limits in a few months. It’s fair to let early adopters to stay free with some of the pro features. The app i ran, i do it for free and it would be a big deal to turn pro now without any choice. I’m sure i will turn pro as soon as i can afford the pricing not only for the features but also to support the project which in some way i’m involved in ;). All the best for the future!
Thanks David… I can live with that!
and what about the other sheets marked as “Hidden Tabs” when an app is loaded at the beginning? Will Glide load/read all this data althought those are used to do calculations/filters only and not be used as functional Tabs?
As I wrote before, I try improving the app’s throughput when it is loaded at the start and now, not exceeding the limit of 500 rows
Thanks again.
Saludos!
I think it’s the feature that already exists where you can see your location on a map. I don’t think they have allowed you to save the location to the sheet yet.
Any chance you would consider educational pricing to include a predetermined number of apps? Where I work, procurement is a CHALLENGE. Having to jump through those hoops once, painful, having to go through them each time I want a new app, impossible.
Hi!.
I think you should consider selling some PRO features separately per app, without the need to buy a subscription plan. This would reach much more customers that use few apps with few data.
You should also consider giving some benefits to people who allows their app to have the template copied.
Hidden tabs are not counted, but if items in your app have relations to hidden tabs and the user can access them, then it would count. We’ll write an FAQ soon.
You could, for exemple, sell “packs of rows” per app…
We’re thinking about it.
I have been thinking about allowing geolocation data to be written out to the sheet quite a bit. There are a couple major areas of concern around this:
-
It’s not always available. This means your data model must be willing to accept not getting a value.
-
Informed consent from the user will be important. I think early iterations of any form which submits the user location will ask the user to confirm they want to submit their location and maybe allow them to acknowledge for all future writes as well. We really don’t want users having their location unknowingly tracked.
There are also considerations for a variety of privacy laws that need to be thought through.
I thought all apps created before the limitations were grandfathered in… Why does my app suddenly have row limitations
