Will classic table disappear?

Hello Glide community!

My name is Lucas, and I’ve been using Glide for the past 5 years. It’s been amazing to witness the progress Glide has made and the opportunities it has unlocked for both individuals and companies.

That said, one of the biggest limitations we face today is the row limit. While the current 25k rows is already a huge improvement compared to the early days, it’s still quite restrictive when running full-scale operations. The limit is reached quickly—especially when historical data needs to be stored and accessed regularly.

We’re a bit hesitant about migrating to Glide Big Table. Our concern is that it might lock us into something less flexible than classic tables, potentially impacting both our team’s workflows and our clients’ experience.

I remember there were previous discussions about:

  • Converting classic Glide Tables into Big Tables

  • Making Big Tables the default and phasing out classic tables

Does anyone know if these projects are still being considered? And if so, is there any timeline or deadline we should be aware of?

Thanks in advance for your insights—I’d be happy to discuss this further!

Lucas

Yes, I believe so. My understanding is that the eventual goal is to remove the distinction between regular tables and Big Tables altogether. I have idea what the timeline looks like.

Thanks Darren. That’s what I understood as well, but as it has been some time without news about it (or I missed it) I was wondering if it was still the plan.

Having no distinction between the two would be awesome, as long as we keep all the features of the classic tables.
