We've lost the option to use our custom background during app launch/loading

So what happened is that I checked the box, and then it became unchecked on its own. I rechecked it and now it’s working…hopefully the unchecking of the box on its own won’t keep happening…

So glad it’s back. Do you see the spinning wheel on your background? Its not the same experience. Wish spinning wheel would go away.

Yes. Agreed

It used to say “signing in” which is hands down superior user feedback in the app launch process. I found it in the video of this old thread:

I think gif background was eliminated to enable smooth experience during the use of deep linking. Meaning, a spinning gif shows up instead of background gif before data is pulled.

Now when we use deep link to open a screen, the background gif shows up (with the spinning wheel). I am okay with it as it would look really bad if it would say “signing in” when a deep link is used to open an alternative screen within the app while the user is logged in.

Not sure if I explained it clearly. Point being, to be able to use deep links we need to sacrifice background/sign-in gif. I am glad for the fact that David at least tried to restore the feature. I value the ability to use deep link more than background/ sign-in gif.

Ok, I have no idea what the deep links have to do with it but I’ll take your word for it. Bigger fish to fry and yes, also grateful that Glide team put it back!

Don’t. I am just guessing and making peace with status quo.
