I did some testing and it appears that the chat tab does not appear for accounts that were created using an email address like “joblow@somecompany.com” and a password, rather that using the google account sign up. I can’t find any way to enable it, even after linking a google account.
I’ll try sending a direct message to see if you receive that instead.
