Stability and reliability

A few days ago I tried to add a record with images and attached documents to an app via phone. After I clicked submit everything was missing. The record was there but none of the contents. This is a new app with glide tables. I tried from the dashboard and successfully saved the record. This morning I tried again from my phone and it worked. Nothing in the app changed and this was standard screens – nothing fancy. This is just a simple recipe app with maybe a dozen fields in five or six tables. Also in the space of the same few days working in the designer and seeing reloads, causing me to lose things. Still seeing the case where going into an app on the phone and I start working and all of a sudden the app itself reloads. Daily frustrations. New features are great but we need bottom line stability and reliability.

I feel you… That’s why I rely only on GS. So many times, Glide messes up, giving my customers and me lots of trouble.

Can you reproduce it in a video?

There’s nothing to video. The first issue – the record not saving – Still is intermittent.
Today I tried to add three records. Only one record saved the images. In the first one, I uploaded 13 files. In the second one, two files. In the third one, 8 files. Surely I cannot be the only one who has ever uploaded more than a few images. For the document component, it won’t even save one document.

.

The issue with Glide mobile restarting after it’s been up an active for 30 or 40 seconds is not reproducible per se, but I’d need a second phone to record what I see. It happens in various parts of the App (ie. any and all parts of the app). It’s been reported before, and I believe I’ve seen reports of it happening in other people’s Apps.

The point of the post was not a ‘bug report’. There’s the builder reloading without notice and always (seemingly) just randomly in the middle of changes to my App. This just causes unnecessary frustration and has been going on so long that we (Glide users) just take it as a matter of course. I don’t think we should. Imagine what a new user sees.

As I said, the recipe App is a new app with only a handful of tables and about 15 entries in the recipe table.

Are you waiting for the upload process to complete before you click on submit?

For a normal image component, it will not allow you to do anything else until the image finishes uploading. And in this case, it shows all the images in the little box and allows me to click submit. There is no visual indication that the upload process has not completed. And if glide is allowing me to click submit without the images being uploaded, I’d say that’s a big problem with that component. Adding a single document, same issue.

Just checking. I’ve seen files appear in the box, but each individual file changes from a greyed out color to a darker color once they are finished uploading.

Just confirmed this. Yes, that’s a big problem. Glide should not allow proceeding. Not sure about the document upload. May be the same thing, but I’ve only ever tried to attach one document.

But my post was about more than this, also. There’s issues that have been outstanding for years that we’ve just “learned to live with” or “work around”. I see that as a problem. Add to that the inability to convert an old App to a new App (perhaps they’re just wanting all the old Apps to dwindle away). Has the private template issue been resolved? I stopped checking on that.

That’s been fixed for several months as far as I’m aware.
