Push Notifications recently stopped working completely

Hi! Recently, all push notifications stopped working - I have enough updates, user consented, etc but still not working. I receive no errors when using the Push notification Action, the notification simply doesn’t come through. Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is an important feature for our customers

Thanks!

There have been various reports about this recently. Please try this to see if it helps with your case.

I think i know the reason.

Months ago, there was an option in the settings on the right side to run Glide in the new web app (in Beta), which is supposed to load faster.

If you had checked that new web app, the push notifications won’t work. This happened to my apps months ago.

Now, the check box option no longer appears in the settings, so I believe the reason is because of the implementation of this new web app.

I hope Glide can revert back to the old web app.

This is possibly the reason why, Glide is now working on the new player.

Summary: Months ago, I encountered the same issue where the push notifications won’t work if this box is checked.

With this box gone, I am guessing that Glide now runs in the new player, hence, my guess why push notifications stopped.

Thanks for that! I gave those a try without any luck - Thanks anyway!

Thanks so much for your response - It’s truly appreciated!

I just thought I would share this response from Glide Support for future refrence by anyone having the same issue:

For many users, push notifications are an essential feature for maintaining real-time engagement with an app. When these notifications don’t work, it can be frustrating and pose a significant challenge. If you’ve been experiencing issues with push notifications in your Glide app, you’re not alone. We’ll explain why this is happening and what you can do about it.

After extensive research, the Glide team decided to demote Push Notifications to Beta status. You can now find them on the Previews menu of your Project Dashboard. This change is largely due to limitations within the Progressive Web App (PWA) ecosystem, which is not fully supported across all operating system (OS) and device combinations.

One of the primary issues we’ve encountered is with iOS devices. Specifically, deep links on iOS simply don’t work right now. This limitation is particularly problematic because it means notifications might not reach users in the expected manner.

On Android devices, the situation is a bit different. Battery optimization features on some Android devices are killing services running in the background, including those required for push notifications. As a result, users may not receive notifications consistently.

Glide apps are Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) and, as such, are limited by the capabilities of the larger PWA ecosystem. While PWAs offer numerous advantages, they also come with specific limitations, especially concerning push notifications.

We understand how critical reliable push notifications are for your applications. While we’re actively seeking solutions to improve and stabilize this feature, the only alternative we can offer at this time is email notifications.

Please keep an eye on updates in the Glide community and our “What’s New in Glide” announcements. We’re continually working to enhance our features and provide you with the best possible tools for your applications.

Yes, push notifications have been demoted to the preview status 6 months ago.

A week ago, it was working ok, except for the deep links. I’ve personally tested across android and IOS and it worked ok.

Glide shouldn’t have made this change abruptly.

Do you have the preview feature enabled?

Hi @kingzy
Explain please where you found this chekbox?
Can’t found it anywhere(

The checkbox is no longer there. it was previously there when the new player was in Beta.

The new player is now no longer in Beta, therefore gone.

So now we don’t have push notifications at all???

This is the latest update that we know.

Hi, Is there any update on Push Notifications? honestly if deeplink cause problem I think the solution is not to stop notification service, but to remove deeplink option from the feature… Email doesnt offer an equal solution to the user than Push Notification… the option to notifiy users about someting they might interesting for them has nothing to do with deeplink and essential to offer a great experience to them. Is there a plan or an ETA to re-enable feature ?

No plans that I have heard of recently.

Depends on each people’s view of course, but if deep link isn’t working on iOS, and notifications aren’t consistently sent on Android, then those are 2 big problems for it to be kept in beta.

I haven’t had an app with push notifications since the start of the year due to these problems.

not for now.

Are push notifications dead?
I can’t see them in the preview features anymore.

We have push notification integration activated in our apps and as part of our workflows but we just get an error and an error report email every time an app tries to send a notification.
