The top part of the screen doesn’t appear in the shape of the top of the iPhone as it does in the preview…Is this a bug or did I miss another setting?
It’s the way it is I believe.
So the app you shared with me earlier today, Company Directory, looks same as in preview when using same design setting. My app is cutting off in a straight line at the top no matter what style I use. I’ve reached out to support. Also, all other apps on my phone wrap around!
Is it possible that it’s an ios 14 issue with the theme? Did you happen to change the theme after installing or do you you have your device set to dark mode? Or do you have the ‘match device theme’ setting set?
So this one driving me a little nuts because I’m big on design (aren’t we all)…
-My phone is less than 1 year old iPhone 11 Pro
-My software is up-to-date and on iOS 13.5.1 (Not iOS 14)
-It has been set to auto for light/dark since before I started using Glide
-Match device theme is on in Glide gut I also tried toggling off to check but same problem
-Also tried toggling iPhone theme OFF of auto and JUST on light but problem persists
-This issue occurs with this app on all themes but clearly prominent when set to “Light” theme in Glide
-All other apps, both WITH Glide and other apps (Uber, Linkedin, NYC transit etc) work fine on my phone.
-I have checked with 5 other users that I shared my app with as I’m building it and all of them have same issue (all have iPhone 10 or 11).
Eager to get this resolved because with all of the help of this community I have my first app about ready to release!
I have contacted support and hopefully they can identify an issue. I know I’m new but I don’t think I should be able to break this with user mistake!
And guess what - now it’s suddenly working this morning! YAYYYY! Wonder if support found something and fixed or this will just remain a mystery. I will ask them and update here to close this thread! or are they seeing this and will reply?
Maybe wait for them to answer you, or mention one of the leaders in.
Some theme settings can become fixed at the moment you add your app to the home screen. If you added your app to your home screen with the bold theme set, or with match device theme not set, this could be the issue. Try changing your phone between light and dark themes to see if you can observe the issue.
In other words, when you see the black bar at top, this means your iPhone is set to Dark Mode, but the app is stuck in a light theme.
Soooo
-My phone was already in auto for light/dark mode before I installed the app
-Match theme settings was ticked in Glide
-I installed the app and had the issue
-Toggled the phone settings to light and dark and still experienced the issue either way
-Toggled match themes on and off in Glide and still experienced the issue either way
-Tried all combination of iphone and glide settings etc and still experienced the issue
-This morning it started working (light theme showing properly) without further ticking on and off of phone or Glide settings.
-Currently the conditions under which it is working are: iPhone is on auto light/dark mode and it works both when I check the match themes or not box in Glide.
I did all of this yesterday and it would not work in any circumstance so it is unclear whether it was a little bug or not. The answer to your original/first question is that the phone was on auto and the match themes box was ticked when I saved the app to the homescreen. In any event, I think I have enough information now to fix it if it gets stuck again! Thanks!
Design type changes can take a little while longer for the phone to pull those changes. On Android I get around it by force closing and relaunching the app. That usually pulls the changes, bit sometimes it can take a little longer. I’m just thinking that maybe you were making several changes and not seeing instant results, but eventually you hit the right combination and the iPhone pulled the theme settings. Just a thought.
This was correct Jeff - thank you! Trying different toggling/force closing etc helped solve the problem.
I have the same issue. But it didn’t suddenly work by magic when I woke up this morning haha. I switched all the parameters many times, waited few hours. Delete and add to home screen multiple times…
Right now, my phone (XR, iOS 13.5.1) is set auto and the app : match theme is off and light is ON.
I had this happen with a second app that I’m working on as well but I was able to get it unstuck by trying those things on my iphone 11PRO, 13.5.1. I did report this as a bug and was advised that they are aware of the issue. Importantly, it’s not just us as the app maker that experiences the issue and users won’t know that the app theme is “stuck”, so they’ll just think that’s the way it is. Hoping for a more scalable solution soon @Mark and @david ! :-))))
@francois1 Did you try turning your phone to light and turning auto mode OFF and then installing the app? I think that’s what worked for me. And then I put my phone back on Auto light/dark mode once it was fixed.
