🌐 Please help us test: API Column and Webhook action

Here’s an app that uses the API column:

The endpoint is implemented here:

I wonder if all these people bemoaning their lack of knowledge/experience of API’s are aware that every time they use a service like Cloudinary or quickcharts.io, then they are interacting with an API

 exactly. I can’t wait to play around with this after the girls go to bed…I’ll let you know what I discover!

I’ll be testing it as well. Curious to see how it deals with the Golf API that I use  :golfing_man:

Same for me.

Sorry, fixed.

Ugh—hate not knowing how to implement a new feature straight out of the box—quick question, @Mark, are we able to use ready made APIs or do we have to build the endpoints ourselves? Is there a public, ready-made API that you know of that we can use for testing—not one custom built with Glitch?

This API column is pretty sick!

However, I don’t understand what server.js is. :expressionless:

Hopefully, @JackVaughan can make a video soon… :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Big long list of free public API’s here

Edit: But none of them will work  (see reply from @Mark below)

These do not work directly with the API column. The API column expects a very specific interface. To be able to access any API we’d basically have to build a little Postman inside Glide. I’m sure we’ll do that eventually, but not anytime soon. In the mean time you’ll have to write a Yes Code piece that interfaces between Glide and whichever service you want to connect.

Sorry I’m late to the party, this looks like its going to be alot of fun.

That’s how all computed columns work. You can’t change a Template column into a Math column, either. Maybe I misunderstand your question?

I’m so glad thi is coming out after the christmas contest. We would have apps with so many apis in them we wouldn’t know what to do. Remember that payment companies like SQUARE do not charge to use their API’s for all of you looking for different payment methods.

ah, gotcha.

This is where I was getting hung up, then. Going to need to learn the basics of API I guess before I can leverage this column.

@Robert_Petitto I am in the same boat as you. If you find any good resources, please share. I will do the same!
