Moving from Classic Apps to New Apps I cannot put negative number in a number entry field. I have set min and max values but numbers with the negative sign cannot be input. I am very surprised!
That should work. Is the number entry component writing to a number type column?
Yes!
Okay. I can’t explain why it doesn’t work for you. It works for me.
That’s a pity! It works in Classic apps and I can put negative numbers through New apps Data but this i no good solution. I have to remain in unsupported Classic Apps !
Can you explain what happens when you try to put a negative sign? It just doesn’t let you write?
@Darren_Murphy @ThinhDinh glad to know that you both are still here!
So the Base Year number entry is linked to the Costs column? Can you show the configuration for the number entry component? Have you tried deleting the component and re-adding it?
@Jeff_Hager also glad that you also are still here!
The Base Year number entry is not linked to the Costs column.
The configuration for the number entry component is shown above!
Yes I have tried deleting the component and re-adding it without success.
So to be clear, you have the Base Year number entry highlighted in your last screenshot, but you are actually referring to the the last entry component labeled Costs, correct?
That is the configuration for the column. I want to see the configuration for the entry component.
Setting a Min and Max should not remove the minus sign. At most it will show a warning that you are out of range.
OK, everything looks normal. I tried setting it up myself exactly the same and it works for me. The only noticable difference between you and me is the different regional formatting of numbers, which really shouldn’t matter.
Let’s try something. Your region uses a space for the number group separator. That should not be a problem, but I’m curious if changing the column to not use a group separator would make any difference.
Another thing to try is to create a new number column and point your entry component to that new column instead.
If neither of those two things work, then I’m not sure what’s going on. Like I said, you should be able to type a minus sign and at worst it will give a red warning message if out of range, but should not remove the minus sign. My only guess at this point is that something is weird with the Costs column itself.
Try those two things. Otherwise this may need to be escalated to Glide support.
@Jeff_Hager Thank you very much! I have tried all your suggestions without success!
It is too hard to escalate the issue to Glide support so I change my underlying Google sheet model instead. But nevertheless thank you all!
If you use it for a Glide Table number column, does it work?
Yes, it works!
Next problem, I would like to use a percentage as input i.e 9%, is that possible?
I would either enter the decimal version of percent (0.09), or enter percent (9), but always divide it by 100 when using it for any math.
