Hi David,
I have the same issue, but on an iPhone 6s using iOS 13.4.1
I have a MyMaps link which shows the layers I have added when I click through from the emulator to preview as iOS, but when I try from my phone I get Google Maps without the added layers.
Any suggestions?

Are you logged in at your phone? If not it will not show
I’m sure you’re smarter than a David…

I’m logged in to Google pretty much permanently on the phone
Then I don’t know. Just seen the problem when not logged in
