So far I haven’t figured out how to completely migrate my GED app to the new system. My main issue is not having the independent screen configuration for my tabs. My students loved having the app, so I wanted to bring it to the public for an open, organized app since there are not very many apps for the GED that actually follow the curriculum. I aligned the curriculum to the Kaplan Test Prep book and have started to record my own videos walking through each individual area explaining the mathematics concepts and giving some tips and pointers as I’ve been an instructor in California for 6 years now. I have just started creating my own worksheets.
Home tab is full of information and in-app streaming from my Twitch account that students can watch during the scheduled time that is listed.
Lessons tab has all areas from elementary math to Geometry broken down into smaller chunks to make it easier to digest. Each video is roughly 4-10 minutes long providing focus introduction for each topic. Under each video is “request a lecture” on twitch for the students who have paid for the assessments tab. Here I take note of key areas that students are having issues with and compare them to the test results for each assessment in order to have Twitch lectures on areas students genuinely want to learn. Also Included is the Zoom Study Group (paid option) that has all of the Zoom lectures, notes and worksheets I would suggest as an instructor in order to help you improve and test your knowledge after each lecture. Students that paid for this feature would have access to the materials for 1 calendar year. Also included is an area where the backlog of all Twitch lessons would have been stored by month. Any student paying for the Assessments tab would have access to this feature.
Assessments tab (paid visibility condition) includes curated assessments aligned from the GED website that I would have created every month. Students would pay $10/month and would be able to take a practice test for each Lesson topic. Students would also be able to Rate the Assessments for all other students that have also paid for the assessments, ensuring the students area actually using the function and not just rating.
Resources tab has all of the paid and free resources that are available for the students in or outside of the actual app. It includes anything from the GED ready test on the GED website itself (with 50% off code included) to free pdf worksheets that you can refer back to on your test.
I have positioned myself to work on something I am HIGHLY passionate about as well as have mastered over the years. I have been trying to keep everything besides my time free for students so they can have access to basically free education and resources that have been vetted and will be useful. With the migration from Classic apps to the new one, I haven’t quite figured out my work around. If anyone has a workaround, I’d be open to suggestions.
Why my app is killed at the moment; besides not having a workaround for the independent Screen Configuration for each item, I am expecting twin babies this coming fall and I will no longer have as much time as I once did. I still teach full time and have the same passion for creating my own ecosystem of GED preparation courses through Glide as the day I started. If you’d like to sign in and look around, the app is being killed on June 30. I am trying to keep learning through Glide and come up with some solutions. I hope to find a workaround, but if not, I would love for you guys to see what I’ve been able to create for the GED community.
Included are some screen shots of the app itself as well as the link with the domain I purchased: Math With Christian
