It’s a small number percentage wise, but people who add to home screen are the most engaged users.
Could be great a solution like PowerApps style, a Glide app to App Store with all apps inside it.
I think this would be a good one; there really is added value in being able to use a Glide app as a ‘regular app’
Maybe Glide could open its own alternative apps store.
They will not do any of this for us poor Europeans.
Maybe there is not even a need for a new alternative app store, since the other big stores (microsoft, google) will probably try to conquer iOS in the EU and they already allow PWAs.
However I don’t know Apple‘s restrictions for alternatives app stores and if apps made in Glide can easily be published in them
I’m sorry to say that, but if apps built with Glide really won’t be usable as PWAs in Europe anymore, then it would no longer make sense to consider having a subscription to use this platform (or any other that allows to build PWAs).
Most of our customers use non-mobile layout in desktop browsers.
I didn’t mean to say that Glide will become useless, but in Europe it will lose a bit of sense, at least for mobile on iOS. Anyway I love Glide and hope a solution will be found.
I’m assuming Apple’s recent announcement kills push notifications for Glide Apps in the EU?

I’m hoping this does not impact Switzerland or the UK. Does anyone know for sure?
Switzerland is not a member of the EU but has many bi-lateral agreements to apply certain EU legislation, so there is a risk.
The UK signed up to a lot of EU legislation prior to 2020 Brexit and many laws still apply.
a joke , right?
Unfortunately, it’s not a joke
I was referring to Davids remark : " Most of our customers use non-mobile layout in desktop browsers"
I am familiar with the PWA issue for some weeks.
It seems like there might be another issue with (home screen) PWA , causing some data loss for them, especially those in the EU who use iOS devices even in ‘mobile’ Safari browsers
Just wanted to flag this as something to keep an eye on and see if there’s anything we can do to help mitigate it. Appreciate your understanding!
In the next few days I will install the iOS 17.4 beta to test the glide apps.
yes but Apple will charge 0,50 c for every installations on alternative stores…
I suppose the only way is to wrap Glide’s apps into something like natively or AppMySite or in a Webview within FlutterFlow ,Fliplet, Flipabit, Thorium builder ,Wappler or Blup to name a few , or even inside Adalo or Bravo, but its a bummer , i hope to see from Chrome and Safari a sandbox in their kit in order to restore the Pwa by Jobs first introduced,
I’m very frustrating… I was almost at the end of developing my new app , and now this news from Apple change basically everything as I’m located in EU and most of the features of my app were based on notification
