I would rather not prefer default on this David. This is a choice. As far as I understand client behaviour, people want email addresses of who is using their app.

Then they should design their app to ask for this information explicitly. We also plan to make Collect Real User Emails a paid feature.

I think this is a smart move and likely covers Glide for some legislative pieces around the type of information that is shared with others. It’s about privacy, but even if you see it as an upsell, that’s also fine, because Glide is a business at the end of the day, and Glide will survive by charging customers for what they value.

Don’t feel offended, David! It can be valuable as well to see how users look at the steps you take. In this case a user that hopes you will be very succesful with your business and is a daily advocate of your tool.

I guess privacy is something that has to be taken seriously. We can still switch between hide/show until premium is introduced. I haven’t made an app where people didnt want their mail-adress to be known, but maybe that’s because I am always in the field where there’s trust between maker and user anyway. But choice is always good.
