Description
Images don’t seem to be uploading when I try to add the values to a data table. This hasn’t worked a single time since opening this new account.

How to replicate

  • Go to Data View
  • Open ‘Organizations’ table
  • go to ‘Photo’ column
  • double click on a cell
  • click “select files to upload”
  • select file from harddrive
  • submit
  • see nothing in the cell (not sure if this is normal or if i should see a thumbnail)
  • go to Layout view and see if the image can appears in UI, but nope.

What type of column is your Photo column?
Can you provide a screen shot please?

It’s of type “Image.” The only way I could get images in there was to use another option like by URL. But direct upload isn’t working.

Screen Recording of what I see here:

(Apologies for the cropping for privacy of data, but you’ll get the idea.)

What format are images that you are attempting to upload?

PNG. Standard image format. Also, I use the exact same images on my Google Drive when I got it to successfully using the add from URL option. So it’s not the images.

If you’re trying to upload the photo that is stored in your Google Drive, you may first need to ensure the photo is shareable. I often run into upload errors when I’m trying to pull something directly from Google Drive. To get around it, I usually download the file to my device then upload that file instead.

I’m not trying to upload from Google Drive. I am having this bug when I try uploading from my local hard drive.

I was only able to get around this by using another option in the dialog to add the photo. I chose next to add from a URL and pointed to a copy of the same image with a share link from google drive, where I had already updated the share settings to public. That worked. But the upload from my local machine still does not work. It just shows the progress indicator for a split second and then nothing (you can see this behavior in the recording I shared earlier).

I saw in other threads that folks had this same issue over the years. It seems this bug is back.

Somethings not right. Perhaps it’s a bug, but if it was you would expect more people to be noticing.
I can’t help the feeling that there is something going on with your browser/environment.

A couple of things to try:

  • Add an image picker component to a screen and try uploading images via that. See if it works.
  • Try using a different browser.
  • Try using the same browser in incognito mode.

None of the above is guaranteed to work, but testing each will eliminate some possible causes of the issue.

Also, one thing I noticed from your video is that you appear to have row owners applied in that table. I wouldn’t expect that to make any difference, but it might. So you could also try turning off row owners temporarily and see if that makes any difference.
