Glide “Today” Changes at 8 PM Eastern — Why Not Midnight?

We have a Glide app used in Michigan (Eastern Time) and are seeing unexpected behavior with a “Today” date filter.

Our app changes to the next day at approximately 8:00 PM Eastern, which corresponds to midnight UTC.

We cannot find any app setting that tells Glide which time zone to use.

How does Glide determine the time zone used for “Today”?

Is there an app-level time zone setting, or does Glide calculate “Today” using UTC?

We simply need Today to change at midnight Eastern Time, not 8:00 PM Eastern.

What is the recommended way to accomplish this?

Hi RayG,
I think today calculated on user device and depend on user’s current time zone.
Also all server side workflows operate UTC.

Thanks for the reply. That is what I expected as well.

All of our users and devices are in Eastern Time, but our “Today” filter consistently changes to the next day at approximately 8:00 PM Eastern, which is exactly midnight UTC.

We tested this directly: before 8:00 PM the current day was displayed, and shortly after 8:00 PM the next day’s routes appeared.

If “Today” is calculated from the user’s device time zone, is there something else in Glide that could cause an “is within today” condition to evaluate using UTC?

We are not using a server-side workflow for this — it is simply a date column and a Today condition/filter.
