I think this sums it up! Agree 100%
But … that has always been the case … So why this pricing now and not before?
For example Dutch company Betty Blocks has chosen to go with B2B prices from 500 p/m from the start. So I knew from the start it wasn’t for me and didn’t have to put time in learning the platform and promoting the platform.
Glide first got me and others in with technology and pricing so I put a lot of time in the technology and promoted Glide wherever I could. I still love the technology a lot but with every new pricing /plan it feels Glide tells me it’s is less and less for me.
That is a choice, of course. But to me it hurts!
Again, my comment was focused specifically on the post I was replying to, which was the rational on whether prices can be justified or not.
I’ll just reiterate:
I’m not here to defend the pricing change. Just throwing out rhetorical questions for consideration in some cases.
So I was just about to transfer my asset management app to the client account in the next few days. Does this new pricing model mean the number of scans they can do per month went down by 15,000 updates … they haven’t yet subscribed to the business plan… too late my guess…
Not sure…is this considered an “integration”, or is it included in the unlimited updates for Glide Tables? @NoCodeAndy
With these changes I can’t see myself sticking around to try and build business apps for small businesses anymore. I had already commented on the fact that many features that needed to be developed and shown to a business would require the business signing up before being able to test (14 day trials) - and now a lot of opportunities are gone due to the user count etc. I hope glide will clean up their YouTube, blog and marketplace to not promote those apps that would be very costly to implement (ticketing and crm for example).
Glide is now very much for enterprise.
It just feels insecure to bring on set columns… let say we go and make all the nice changes to the apps, custom forms etc. etc… and then… Glide decide to change things next year this time !
am i wrong in feeling insecure?
My question is how long will I maintain legacy pricing? I’m getting a queasy feeling in the pit of my stomach at the thought of going from 500 users (pro) to 20 users (team)
In Brazil, it became unfeasible with the exchange rate at 5x. It’s not possible to pass on the costs and remain competitive in the freelancing market for small businesses. Thank you, Glide, bye!"
We don’t have a precise timeline yet.
In any case, we’ll give everyone at least 3 months of advanced notice.
Like you did today?
Any reputable company informs his clients (*) upfront of any changes, be it prices or features, you just dropped a bombshell over all of them!!!
(*) Including developers/experts who now have to explain this sudden cost increase to them.
So we have to assume now that this is temporarily? Please make this clear asap, so we can decide based on that on keep on using Glide or not.
Yes, barcode scans will consume updates.
One important thing to remember is that you don’t have to switch to the new pricing, you are grandfathered in on your current plan if you prefer that.
Not true… see Andy’s comment above:
These price changes are really ridiculous. This is the 2nd time that Glide has made drastic changes in terms of price, users, and functionality.
Apparently, Glide is not to be trusted. In this way, I cannot maintain a reliable relationship with my customers.
Sorry, I didn’t mean to say that it was indefinite. I was responding to some that were worried about this being a sudden change but we are giving people a significant ramp time to choose a plan that works for their needs.
Clarity would be hugely appreciated. I’ve spent 12+ months working towards building an ecosystem for my business based on the parameters of Pro and Business as they are (I projected to upgrade to business at some point this year). In education, I have an admin CRM, an employee intranet, as well as an academic app for teaching staff, and a student client-side app in the works - all operating independently but based on the same data.
I share @Robert_Petitto concern. I can wrap my head around most of this change, but going from 500 to 20 users in Pro to Team, or 1000 users to 20 users from legacy Business to Business, it’s not so easy.
This was a crucial scaling parameter in my business planning over the last couple of years, and the investments made in that time in development were not insignificant. I’m not joking when I say I feel queesy The landscape beneath me has shifted and I don’t understand it.
Can you point to the ramp time? In my case, 3 months isn’t significant.
I have several projects that have been on the same grandfathered legacy plans since 2019. There have been a handful of pricing changes since then, but those changes always only affected new teams that were created after the change. While my apps are in the process of being migrated to a new plan now, Glide has provided several notices to me of changes for those apps going back to September of last year, so I would say that they do reasonably provide a heads up if existing team plans are affected.
Not sure if that ramp time would be consistent going forward, but I’m just pointing out that they have provided advanced notices in the past.
