Does a personal user "favoriting" a calendar event count as an update?

I am making a conference app using the Maker Plan and Google Sheets, but I am not sure if 500 updates is enough. I have all the info entered and very little will change, but does a personal user who “Favorites” an event count as an update? If so, with 200 users all favoriting events, it could blow right past 500 in a matter of minutes.

And if I change something on the spreadsheet and 200 users all receive the update, is that 1 update or 200?

I assume you are setting a value in a user specific column?
@NoCodeAndy do you know if changes to user specific columns within a google sheet table will count as an update?

It’s just one update.

If I were to move everything to a Glide table, would updates become unlimited even as people “Favorite” events?

Yes, they would.

If I upgrade to Maker and someone tries to log in with a non-personal/education email, will they be denied access or asked to use a different email?

I worry that people will sign in with a custom domain and I’ll be charged for a bunch of users.

People who try to sign in to an app on a Maker plan with a non-personal email will simply be denied.

Here you can check the types of emails that would be accepted: personal email validator

What is a personal user email? A Personal User has an email with a consumer domain, an educational domain, or a non-profit domain.

  • Common consumer domains include Gmail, Outlook, iCloud, Yahoo, and ProtonMail
  • Common educational domains typically end with .edu, .ed, .k12, and .ac
  • Educational domains may include country codes, such as .edu.au
  • For nonprofit domains, Glide checks against a database to identify nonprofits

You are not limited to 500 updates. You can buy as many as you need, even if just 501.
