The Math column can now do math with date/times. In particular:
- Subtracting two date/times produces a duration, which is a number and is measured in days, like in Google Sheets.
- Adding a duration (number) to a date/time, or subtracting it from a date/time will add/subtract that many days to it.
- You can pick “Now” as a substitution for a variable.
Date-time math (e.g.
DATEDIFF) is one of the most common Google Sheets formulas that people still rely on in their Glide apps, but as many of you know, relying on Google Sheets formulas can slow down your app, as Glide must wait for your Google Sheet to update, and then for Google to tell Glide about it.
When you do your date calculations in Glide, they update instantly!
Here you can see how we use this capability in one of our internal apps to calculate the age (in days) of ideas on our backlog:
This is a big one! Thanks for getting this done!
Let me quickly add a demo of this on my idiots guide
Hey @Wiz.Wazeer, do you share that guide of yours? I think it was written for people like me
Anyone can copy it @nathanaelb
@Mark @david This is really great, thank you.
@Mark @david This is AMAZING! Thank you!!
If you have a link to the guide, I’d love to see it.
Once I werent using formula in GS, now I can implement a lot a thing now! Thanks again guys!
Thanks so much! I need all the help I can get with setting up stuff like this. So cool that this feature is now available in Glide because I had just set up a DATEDIF function to track something. I just need help setting it up because it’s somewhat confusing for me on the Glide end.
Thank. You. Glide. Team!!!
Sweet!!! I am literarily working on a project now needing this. I was going to just do it in Google Sheets…but now…I won’t have to!!!
Oh my goodness this is the best news of September!
I’ve been asking for this since September of last year it seems. You guys absolutely rock!!!
…now to update, well, ALL my apps
Love that you can do Now + 1, etc. I smell increment button combos coming on to cycle through the details screens of daily events
