Okay this is as far as I have gotten. I’ll add more comparisons later on.

Great news! & ONE MORE THING…

Not only date maths but also SUPPORT FOR INTERNATIONAL FORMATS that Glides get from system client preferences.

I used to have two date fields in order to be able to order by dates (USA FORMAT) and at the same time presenting my local format in the app (EU FORMAT)

  1. A FIRST TEXT COLUMN with EU format
  2. A SECOND based in an array calculated formula in sheets from which I get automatically the USA format and it is configured in Glide as CALENDAR.

Now as you’ll see in the video below this SECOND field is recognized by Glide automatically as date and show it in my local format and it works perfectly operating with math… which is gorgeous :point_down:t3:

BE AWARE!

@mark please take a look at this behavior when I try to convert my original TEXT EU format in DATE. It’s not working properly. As yo can see in the video below it makes some mistakes. Only dates which are not legible as USA FORMAT are ok. This a common classical issue while converting formats which majority of data sheets have fix it.

This a great great improvement and a huge step in the right direction which will require some redesign in non USA FORMAT conceived apps. But it worth it!

Thanks for the courage and the hard work!

This is a great update! Next maybe a countdown timer to go with it?

Okay, more date comparisons. As I am working with Glide sheet (not google sheet); I was not able obviously to punch a formula into the sheet. My workaround was to require Wiz to

  1. Provide his DOB; and
  2. His last birthday.

This is the result.

If anyone has a calculation to hand that would save us from requiring a person to enter their last Birthday , please share with us. On google sheet it’s not a problem, I’ve already tested.

Tx.

You can create timers, but not with seconds, unfortunately.

Glide will have to read NOW every second for that to work, but I think it reads it every 5 seconds for now.

@Mark…can I just say how much I love this feature. This coupled with join text and I have a working version of my Meet with Me app without a single Google sheet formula!!!

Promo coming soon!

Great, many thanks … useful in some of my apps  needed to calculate the age of people with GS is now over

Rebuilt the booking app using these features: https://bookameeting.glideapp.io/

The goal with this rebuild progressed as follows:

  • rebuild using date math functions inside Glide
  • rebuild without bookings logged into Google Sheets
  • rebuild without Google Sheets

Except for the last goal (Glide needs at least one tab in Google Sheets?), I was able to achieve all goals. I am using just one tab in Google Sheets to log user profiles.

PS: This app doesn’t check for conflicts, but asks users to avoid booking overlapping slots.

@Robert_Petitto did you manage to get a button to add / subtract from a date field using the increment action? This isn’t working for me.

@sardamit

Regarding point 3 (“build without Google Sheets”), I did not test it extensively, but as a quick test I created an app and then deleted the spreadsheet altogether. The app seemed to still be working.

Have you tried this by any chance?

(Not sure what would happen to “App : Logins” or if at all relevant here.)

A query. Is there a way to use the result as an increment in one column per user? I’m not being able to do it.

Yes, you can increment a user-specific column.
