Creating User Groups that then see data based on permission

I’m using the whitelist function to control the user access in my app. Here I would like to creat User groups that then see data shown in the app with the user group as a filter to grant them to see the component or not. the data the component uses is in a different sheet than the whitelist - Any hints how to establish this? When trying to filter I dont get any access to the e-mail list so I cant call up information from this. Thanks for your help

Have you enabled user profiles for the app?
