Copy and Paste Between Apps

It would be nice, if we could copy and paste components between apps.

I have a few apps where I reuse components, layouts over and over again. I can easily copy and paste within a project, but cross project would be wild.

Unless it’s changed:

  • You can copy-paste components within the same application
  • You can copy-paste components across different applications within the same team
  • You cannot copy-paste components across different teams

I tested this a while back and I found that it only works within the same browser tab (tested with Arc browser). That is, if you have the builder open in two separate browser tabs (same team, two different Apps) and try to copy a component from one to the other, it doesn’t work. It seems that each browser tab has it’s own independent copy buffer. Maybe there is a way to change that behaviour, I didn’t dig any further.

Interesting! Now you know that I’ve never had two builders open at the same time, I don’t think I’ve ever attempted that. I’ve just copied components, headed to the dashboard, gone to another app, and pasted.

Last I tried this works fine within the same team, but not beyond that.
