I am taking some time to clean my “workspace” if you will before doing my first linked apps, and i cant seem to clear out the “link tables” data sources list.
I can only find a way to access it from in the app (while adding a linked table), but there is no delete option. I deleted all my old apps, but the tables appear to remain in shared data sources.
Because all my apps were iterations of the same thing, i have many client, payment and other standard tables for all 20 iterations.
So…I only want the ones to show that belong to an app that still exists. How do i do that?
For future reference, I usually make it a habit to delete all tables from within an app before deleting the app itself. The only way to do it after the fact is to link any unused tables to an app and then delete the table from the data editor.
I assume you meant to say “unlink”, but yes, unlinking a table just removes it from the app. It does not remove it from the list of all tables.
Glide has protections in place to prevent you from deleting a table that is linked in another app. If the app you are working with is the only one that is linked to the table, then yes it will allow you to delete it.
I started making my way through all the tables, but there are… hundreds of them with no select all option, or a delete option in the linked table list. Its select one by one, then add to app, then delete one by one. Im going to be here for a year!
This was a naive mistake of mine letting it get this bad, but there should really be a better way of cleaning this no?
Not your fault at all. It’s just bad design for table management. I’ve been down that road too. I used to have a ton of apps due to helping out in the forum, but I’ve started to clean them up. Mine is a mess too. It’s just not documented well and there should really be an option to delete tables as well when deleting an app…provided the table isn’t used elsewhere.
