Yes. But it’s using “values” rather than “display as” so is not really functional when using row ids
Value is what needs to ultimately be written to the sheet and thus what needs to be set as the default value. Yeah, a list of rowIDs are messy to look at when setting the default but it should be relatively easy to cross reference and look up the correct value. I would imagine you would only be setting the default once in most cases. Also consider one reason for using RowIDs is so a Display As value can be renamed (while the ID remains the same) without breaking any existing database relations. If glide only let you choose the Display As side for the default, and you rename something, then your default value is broken, even though the underlying RowID never changed.
Sure. I (reluctantly) guess so … :-/
It seems so.
@ThinhDinh i have been trying to find the default value option, but cant see it for my choice components
This only works in a form/edit screen.
Hi Rob ,
Any work around this? I am using the choice component to show different screen based on selection, and i would like to have it set to a default one.
Hey, you can use two columns
One IF column for the visibility rules; One for the users choice
IF column, if ‘choice column’ is blank show (whatever default you want), else show users choice
If you’re storing that to a user-specific column then I believe you can use a set column action somewhere in your flow.
yes @ThinhDinh I am storing it to a User specific column, can you explain how i can use set column action, as this has to show up soon as screen tab loads, there is no user interaction for me to set a column
Is it a details screen from a list of items? I guess it’s not.
yes it is, its part of a in-line list details screen
So you can do a set column action on the open of the inline list item I guess?
Awesome fixed it, this works great now!
so it works fine for my in-line list, i was able to set the column. What if i have it directly on tab view
Then you will have to find another way to do it, an action that any users will have to do when they use the app.
I usually set my default components to show up when no choice has been made, OR if the first choice has been made. So it at least shows something to the user for the very first time. Once they have made a selection, it’s set in the user specific column forever.
This is not a great example, but here the bio info is shown by default even though no choice selection had been made yet.
