Calling all Glide builders: RescueHacks is live! đźš‘

Hi everyone!

My friend and I recently launched RescueHacks, a free online hackathon, and I thought the Glide community might be interested.

The idea is simple: build something that could save a life.

Maybe it’s an app that helps people during an emergency, keeps medical information organized, helps communities coordinate after a disaster, improves accessibility, or even prevents dangerous situations before they happen. If your project could make someone’s next few minutes a little safer, it fits the challenge.

One of the reasons I wanted to share it here is because Glide is such a great tool for building useful apps quickly. A RescueHack doesn’t have to be a huge AI project or a fully polished product. Even a simple Glide app that solves a real problem can have a meaningful impact.

The hackathon is completely online and beginner friendly, so no code and low code projects are welcome.

If this sounds interesting, we’d love to have some Glide builders join. I think this community could come up with some really creative ideas.

If you have any questions, I’m happy to answer them!

Best of luck with RescueHacks! I love projects that solve real, meaningful problems. Just to give you a quick example of how Glide can be utilized for this, I actually integrated a built-in “Emergency Assistant” module into my travel guide app for Thailand (Goo Thailand).

The core idea is to give tourists a quick, reliable safety net if they run into any trouble during their trip. Within the app, users can:

  • Directly call the Tourist Police or an Ambulance with a single tap.

  • Instantly view their precise map location and GPS coordinates.

  • Generate a pre-written emergency assistance message (which includes their exact Google Maps location link) to quickly copy or send via SMS/social apps.

I won’t be able to participate but I love the concept. I wish you the best with the event.

Thank you so much for the response, this is very cool!
If you have anyone you think would love to participate, please send them my way.
Thanks again!
